Is anything planned, or already in place, to stop the price of blueprint originals continually falling? Surely these items should keep a certain level of worth?

To be honest, BPOs aren't really worth having unless you can get a lab to get the mineral requirements down... it's cheaper to buy BPCs instead by the time you factor in the minerals saved.
If they can repair the lack of lab slots, demand for BPOs would climb again.

They are worth exactly as much as people are willing to pay. Go look up "capitalism" sometime. --------------------------------------------------

Lab slots have nothing to do with it. :)
Prices drop because people arent able to produce them with ease. Alot of producers that I have spoken too dont want to actually make anything tech2 because of how hard it is to collect and sort all the components to make em.
Now once people, like myself, start to produce large qty's of tech2 components, others will start to play around with more tech2 stuff. Both in production and every day use.
But right now, who is gonna play with a 100M cruiser just for giggles? Black Lotus Official Forums - www.blacklotusclan.com Contact Me - [email protected] |

anyone following the early sales of the bpo's could easily spot one trend: All prices were over-inflated by the same people: Megacorps.
T2 was *THE* hot thing to do, and naturally each one of them would want to lay their hands on it. And their "need" translated to ISK.
You could easily see bids that 90% of the bidders would retract at ~50% of the final price, and this is because the big players would battle like crazy over it and would overshoot the price.
We also saw an amazingly big increase of t2 ship bpo drops with the analogous build-time increase. This fact has severely lowered their prices, since noone can sustain a serious production line with just one print, and the competitors would be far too many. Before that, it was just a handfull of ppl, usualyl selling at totally different regions, or even parts of the map (if selling at all).

Ok, let me clarify my question further. The tech 1 blueprint originals for example an Apocalypse battleship have been continually falling in price recently. This is because the market automatically reduces the prices of NPC items that do not sell. When an item is bought, the prices go up again. While this is fine for the cheaper items in the game that may be bought regularly, IMHO it is not right for an item that cost many players over a billion isk, to continually lose value just because the game is trying to apply one rule for all cases.

Edited by: Kalfu on 19/12/2004 10:55:56 There appears to be a minimum price they can fall to. Check out Typhoon BPOs in Metropolis; no-one has bought any for two months, the price has stopped falling at 675M.
Tempest BPOS show a fall, then a resurgence of buying and the price went back up.
Edit: I think the market is bugged right now, so these numbers may need to be revised when the market works again.
