Those asylums looked pretty freaky. But when I think about Pripyat, Ukraine (especially at night) everything else seems comparatively pleasant. Nobody lives there so it is completely silent, and that just makes it worse!
Maybe I should go play STALKER...

Creepiest place I have been to personally was the abandoned and derelict Royal hospital in Wolverhampton, there are loads of videos and pictures of it all over the internet now but me and my friends explored it about ten years or so ago and there was no security and it was much more intact.
You could go to the morgue and surgical theatres as well as the incinerators and all kinds of other creepy places like the 18th century brick lined tunnels from the nurses boarding house to the main building or old laboratories some areas like the old cafe where warm and dry and a great place to chill out, altogether it was a huge place.

Actually looks like they took a lot of those photographs and modeled "All Guillied Up" in COD4 after them.
