Now that +3 implants (and I assume +1 and +2, as well) are only given out as LP offers, the price for these items has literally tripled, and sometimes quadrupled.
It used to be that PvPers and anyone else subjected to increased risk of being podded, were able to afford implants, supposing they didn't get killed too often. It would set you back perhaps 5 to 60 million, depending on which implants you bought.
However, now that implants cost a minimum of 20 million, PvPers no longer have a choice. The cost for replacing implants is far too costly for the vast majority of players. Not many people can afford to replace even a single +3 memory implant, let alone a memory and an intelligence.
The overall effect is that people who aren't likely to be podded - high sec miners, agent runners, producers, researchers - are able to afford implants, because for them it is a one time fee.
I think CCP intended to fix this by introducing the contrabanded boosters, however, I feel that this is an inadequate balancing factor. Many PvPers are involved in empire wars, and those peoples' ability to kill the enemy is going to be severely hampered if they are constantly getting fined or attacked by customs agents, in addition to whatever their enemy is shooting them with. Not to mention that there are further supposed drawbacks, like damage repaired only by a clone, etcetera.
I'll also point out that recently CCP is making a very poor habit or 'fixing' one side of a problem, such as with the recent speed module nerf, while not touching the intercepting cruise missiles.
Why is it that PvPers must sacrifice their ability to train skills at a decent speed? Before Exodus, we were already sacrificing significant portions of our wallet in order to do both, and now even that is no longer a feasible option.
Note: I don't think this belongs in the missions forum, as it is more about the effect on everyone than the effect on missions.

This has little of an impact on people that live in 0.0 and do PVP constantly, since the first thing you get rid of are implants. They just tend to slow you down.
The ones that are really affected by it, are the players that only do PVP occasionaly, but otherwise play a production/miner or simmilar char.

not sure about +3 implants, but +1 implants are more prevelent then ever. Probably do to the fact that lvl 3 agents were also giving lvl 1 storylines ie +1 implants. but now that agents should be giving out the right level storyline missions the +2 and +3s should be showing back up more.
I know that the +1 mem implants have dropped about 30% from when I was first looking at getting one a few weeks ago to now. was about 3 mil then, see them all over for 2 mil now. I know I have personally got about 4 +1 implants since the chance to agent missions and storyline missions, so they don't seem to be that scarce. I would assume the higher level implants will be given out by the higher level agents at a somewhat slower rate, but should still be more then reasonable. being that I am not doing higher level agents atm I couldn't say for sure if that is the case or not.

With the recent patch, CCP tweaked a lot of the numbers -- we may end up seeing more implants soon

God is whingeing all u people like to do. why dont u stop whineing, it dont matter how much they change rebalance and fix thing's nothing is perfect, it dont matter how many times they try and please you people, "YOU"!!! will always find somthing new to complain about, so why dont every one just shut up and take the game as it is, you can all adapt to new ways of playing and if u cant afford to replace your implants because of fighting in 0.0 you have too options 1. stop lossing your fights and try winning or 2. try doing some 0.0 mining while your out there u can easily make 20-30 mil a night. And yes i am a miner and yes i also no how annoying it is to lose implants as i also fight as a hobby not a way of income. all i can say to the devs is keep up the good work this game still rocks compared to all other MMORPG. and try and get the character info sorted :)

Got a +3 Charisma implant from a loot container in a normal space (i.e. not deadspace) kill mission, "Stop the Saboteurs". Others have reported also getting +3 implants from this mission.

if anyone is too scared to fight with implants, and does regular pvp, then they really shouldn't use them.
Grow some testes, for the love of god.
It's not like anyone *needs* them, unless you're having a skillpoint race with someone.
And your info is wrong, they are not only LP offers.
Shoot your intel source. .

Wow, I wasn't aware that they were now appearing in containers.
I based my argument on me doing a heck of a lot of missions and not getting any implants at all, whereas I used to get one every 40 or so missions.
My grief wasn't that it was making me scared to PvP, but that it slows me down in SP training compared to carebears just because of the very prohibitive price.
I'm glad I'm wrong, if I'm wrong.
