So, having achieved (at last), a cap-stable ultratank on my mission domi (nothing amazing compared to some of the stuff i've seen here, but it lets me stay alive when the heat is on in an L4), i've realised that the DPS of a drone domi SUCKS - it took me something like two hours to run through an angel extravaganza last night, and that's excluding salvaging. It wasn't a stretch, but it just took so long.
Because of that, i'm looking to upgrade the DPS of my domi. I originally fit the highs with a load of tractor beams to neaten things up for my salvage catalyst, but i've changed the fit to below:
[Dominix - Mission Domi] Large Armor Repairer II Armor EM Hardener II Armor EM Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Drone Navigation Computer I Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Drone Link Augmentor I 350mm Railgun I,Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun I,Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun I,Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun I,Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun I,Antimatter Charge L Large Capacitor Control Circuit I Large Capacitor Control Circuit I Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
5x Garde I's (haven't the skills for T2 sentries yet)
This fit gives ~530 dps tank on EM/Therm, deals 465 dps with my current skills (or almost 700 if all skills are at 5, and the drones are swapped out for their T2 variants), cap stable with everything running.
Obviously this fit is very EFT-warrior'y, so i'd like some input into ways it can be improved, or if it's even practical :D
Thanks,
Siya. |

cap stability is not needed with enough dps
cheapish upgrades:
-learn t2 sentries asap -Gall navy omnidirectional drone mod iso the drone nav cpu (at least 1, possibly 2) -2x sentry drone damage rigs iso CCC rigs -Imperial Navy large repper -gallente bs 5 -named/best named/t2 rails with possibly faction ammo
All the above is prolly crap

whole difference is to use t2 drones. For angel Bouncer and Berserker T2. I can finish AE in about 1 hour. And I use one drone sentry augmentation rig (10% more damage).
And what a guy sais above ;)

Agreed, although if you run in to fitting issues with the Fed navy omnis, just use regular omnis. At least two; the third one is icing but still nice to have. Garde IIs with an optimal over 50k are just mean (especially when you realize they can also hit most orbiting frigs).

This is one of my gank domi's:
Highs 6 350 2's
Mids 2-3 Cap recharger 2's 1-2 omnidirectional tracking links 0-1 tracking computer 2
Lows 1 LAR 3 hardeners 2 magstab's 1 PDU
Rigs 1 Sentry damage 2 CCC
Drones 5 Guarde 2's
If you want an armor tanking gank domi, you can't get much better than this. However, you really need good skills to get enough worthwhile dps out of it to pull off such a low tank. As such, I would suggest doing something like this:
Highs 5 350's (best named) 1 drone link augmentor (drop for a 6th 350 if you have ewar drone operation level 3+)
Mids 3-4 CCC 1-2 omnidirectional tracking links 0-1 tracking computer 2
Lows 1 LAR 2 4 hardeners 0-2 PDU 2 (if you need more powergrid) 0-2 cap power relay's (if you need more cap) 0-2 magstab 2's (if you have the powergrid and the cap)
Rigs 1 Sentry damage augmentor 2 CCC
drones to taste
A couple good things to note. With 2 omnidirectional tracking links, ogre 2's can shoot down spider drones. With 2, guarde 2's have an optimal of 42km. With max skills, guarde 2's alone do 495dps. Lastly, sentry drones don't have to move to hit stuff. The best thing you could do at the moment is get t2 heavy or sentry drones, as those will really improve your mission completion time.

The above poster's have alluded to it, but I thought I'd reinforce it.
The only reasons you want to be cap stable is if you want to afk while you mission in a drone boat, or if you have connection issue's and need the security. Or if you just aren't interested in profit I suppose.
Other than that, you want to fit your mission boat for gank. Your dps becomes a major part of your tank. This also increases your mission efficiency. But to do this, you need good skills for that particular ship.
The fits and advice posted already are good, get a feel for the why's and how's of them. The only thing I can add is using a cap booster. This allows for more tracking comps/omni's or whatever you might want to fit in the mids and rigs. It can feel a bit sketchy when you first start missioning with such a small tank, but you'll get the feel for how your dps makes it possible.

Edited by: Footoo Rama on 13/07/2010 20:26:13 kill the drone nav, and add 2x omni's in the mids to really make the sentries shine. This does not show in EFT but it makes a huge difference. And get t2 sentries asap.
Navy domi is fail.. lower dps do to rigging.
2x sentry rigs is hard to fit for cap reasons on the Domi esp with a tank and 2x omni in the mids. ------- "Because the Dominix is the Chuck Norris of Eve!" |

Why do you have a drone navigation comp on a sentry dominix?? Drop it and 1-2 cap rechargers for Omnidirectional Tracking Links (Gall Navy recommended).
Also, for rigs, my preference is 1 sentry dmg rig, 1 aux nano pump, and a CCC; the LAR does not need to be perma-run, and the extra armor rep amount is nice so you don't need to cycle your repper as much. Also, a imperial navy repper is a nice addition to any armor tanking ship, I cant recommend one enough. ____
