We've got some hardcore Darkfall players who are looking to make a corp in Eve. We mainly play Darkfall but we play eve on the side and would like to meet some players who also play Darkfall.
Any Darkfallers play this game who are interested in possibly forming a corp?

So, you mainly play another MMO, but expect to be able to run a corp in EVE on the side every now and then ?
And you think people would be interested in joining a corp that would be playing another game most of the time ....

Wrong discussion board I'm afraid - would have been best in Out of Pod Experiences.

I don't see why you find it so strange that somebody would want to form a multi-gaming corp. Just because they won't have the time to play both games all the time and progress in the way that other corps will; it's not that odd for a group of people to want to stick with friends across more than one game - instead of having to turn off one community to join another. Also, I think his point was that the people wanting to join his corp, would be wanting to play another game as well - he's not asking for pure-EVE players to join, he's looking for fellow Darkfall players.

I quit DF after playing for over a year for Eve a couple of months ago. Not sure how many DF players you are going to find floating around Eve though. I'm already in a good corp but gl in your hunt.

there are lots of different ways to play eve.
its not hard to click on a different rock every hour and then alt-tab back to playing Darkfall.
please refrain from making stupid assumptions in this post. Not everything has to be done the way you do it.
We are Darkfall players which means we likely have a higher degree of player skill than most and can do more with less. Yes, I am probably better than you, there will always be someone who is, deal with it.

hehe, well I was actually temporarily banned from DF for "harassing" another player but it was really him that was harassing me and I was just retaliating and he didn't like it so I thought i'd try the free trial and I'm glad I did. A couple other guys in my clan said they had eve accounts too but they were also very noob so we thought we would start playing eve again on the side since its such a great compliment to Darkfall I think. Darkfall is all one server and a lot of people know each other so its a relatively small community, the guys im playing DF with now said they quit eve b/c they didn't have anyone to play with that they really knew.
We aren't going to be a hardcore progressive corp so I dont think we can't play DF too. I plan to do a lot of alt+tab mining in a hauler while playing DF. slow income but better than nothing and I already grind enough in DF, but I'm not complaining.

well, darkfall has the "full loot" thing, so you should have no issues adapting here since you can lose everything here, too :P

Is Darkfall good yet? I left Eve when it came out, and apparently I was the only person who thought the Eurogamer review was bang on right.

I have never heard of darkfall but I tried to play other mmo's next to eve, usually it doesn't work and you tend to hang more towards playing one more than the other until all interest is lost in one.
Anyway good luck trying but EVE can require a lot of time.

I admit that I stopped playing DF because of it's many issues (mainly the grind), but even then I think that review was a poor joke. |

Edited by: Tempban Darkfall on 14/07/2010 01:24:55 funny you mention the grind. I love long term progression and now I can't progress any further on my Darkfall char in any significant way, I suppose thats a big part of why i find myself playing eve now. . I'm in same vent with my Darkfall clanmates but I don't find myself logging in to DF unless its to pvp or mine. I think they may have shortened grind too much since in other games you can always make another char, but in Darkfall you got one char and when hes maxed, game somehow seems more boring. All games are like that for me though not just Darkfall, and I suspect for other people. Character progression is subconsciously entertaining in that way and there is a rule for some games and gamers where the longer the character development the longer the life of the game.
TBH, i think they really killed the long term progression in DF, they increased skill gain rate multiple times and by extreme measures and gold drops enough that people are finishing their chars and not playing as much, less grind means less players in the world that need to be out farming mobs and training magic in cities means less reward for people that go out looking for pvp. Honestly kind of sucks IMO but they say its for the good of the game. They def doing welfare gaming now since latest patch, 1 month chars and 1 year chars are within 1-2 hits of each other. The complainers are going to kill that game probably, I think only niche DF really had was long term progression b/c big gaming companys like blizzard/EA is going to copy that model and have a very small grind and DF will have lost any niche it had.

Hmm, I vaguely recall your two hour rant in Amamake local after you lost your noobship, where you stated you got banned for AFK macroing.
Anyway, glad you found Eve interesting after you tried it, even if it didnt sound like that at the time

Played DF on EU until transfers, and NA until about six months ago.
Went by the name Archetype, which I attempt to duplicate here.
This game has entertained me far more then Darkfall. Same intense PVP with huge risk (although more about pre-planning then twitch based), but far more options for the downtime (exploration, mining, playing the market, wormholes, faction warfare, etc, etc, etc).
I suggest finding an established corp that will accept you, and your friends. You will find it far more enjoyable being able to get info from other players, and have an established player base to tag along with. The biggest problem when you start EVE is the massive learning curve. Ironically the huge learning curve is what will keep your attention on the game for years. Even after six months of playing the game I find a ton of new stuff every day that I did not know. For example, five minutes ago I just learned that Sleepers (a type of NPC ship) does not have a bounty.
Anyway, great game, hit me up if you wanna shoot the **** about DF, or EVE. Wouldnt mind hearing where DF has gone since I left.

Hey, I remember fighting against you a few times, this is turd burglar aka frumpy lumps. Thanks for the advice, I really like the compexity of eve and enjoying every minute of agonizing over how to plan my character. Feel free to ask if you were curious about the changes.
Darkfall does lack complexity and depth and hopefully that will come in time. However, there is something about having a character that you can move around an actual world that I really like so I prob won't be unsubscribing just yet.

Imho you are better to integrate in EvE than get secluded in a DF based clan-kind of thing.
BTW Darkfall is the natural middle age counterpart of EvE, I loved it (less the exploits that they had in the beginning, but that's common to most new MMOs).
Unlike EvE, the NPCs are not pointless and clueless pansies, a new guy can have a thrilling (and sometimes dramatically short) life even at day 1.
There's no "kill 10 sitting duck gruoks" in DF, the "gruoks" team up and drill you a new one. This even before talking about PvP, which is no softer than EvE.
The only thing I did not like about DF is the concept that you end up with a built character sooner than later and then you are capped. In EvE they are smart enough to always put new road ahead of you. You don't win in EvE, you play the fun part of life: the travel. - Auditing & consulting

NA vs EU
Convince me to play on one or other: which has the better players, in terms of skill/*******ness/amounts of them.
I'm US tho.

game has changed a lot since launch, you might be surprised. There were a lot of glaring issues for me too that obviously weren't helping the game. DF was suposed to be about the journey too, unfortunately a lot of people got hung up in the thinking that you had to max something before you can pvp and that is totaly not the case. Really, the last stretch of any skill is not really worth the time investment and something that is meant to be done slowly over time because of this. It is still kind of that way but is really hard now b/c it takes so long to kill people and thers always another dude on your back, they made it so that AOEs do less damage the further out from its point of impact which is a good change but now everyone has so much HP now so it kinda sucks to fight outnumbered.
