Hello, i am making this post because one, i am bored, two, it is sorta funny
So i join AAA C with a friends corp to take it easy, we get wardecced alot.
The Most recent wardeccers are an Alliance Called "The Orphanage"
So i am docked in jita, notice Maelstrom,cane,stiletto, and 3 unknown wartargets. i had to do some stuff in rl so i go afk for an hour or two, and come back and notice they are still here minus the cane, still 5 in local. (Blackbird, maelstrom, drake, stiletto, unknown)
So i go ok, and fit a phoon, torps short range dps etc - I undock, the maelstrom is out of my range so i align to a station, neut the stiletto, and warp to get a better warp in point. so i warp in and land 40km from the maelstrom, which is good for him, since he is arty fit after all. without even attempting to lock, they all run, i pursue, they run again, dock. so now im mad because all i wanted a fight god damnit:)
anyhow, so i convo the maelstrom, ask why they are not fighting (after 5 mins of waiting outside) and he says they are now logging off.
Anyhow, conclusion, "The Orphanage" is terrible, and should disband from complete failure.

Was your story supposed to be funny? Dramatic? Was it supposed to be an action story? A romance maybe? I began reading intently hoping for a dramatic climax but you failed to deliver. I'm sorry but you are a terrible story writer and I can only give you a D.

and i think i would say its a "Tragedy" as they did not fight me, which is what i wanted, so unfortunatley i could not give you an action story, which is the conclusion/theme of this story.

We rarely have 6 people in fleet- much less 6 RR alts. Last time you guys willingly fought us, we had a fleet of 5. 4 of us were in DPS BS, and our 5th was a friend in an RR megathron IIRC. Despite having a fleet of 5, we stayed aggressed as your fleet of 20+ landed and engaged us, only deaggroing after your neutral RR managed to pull up your bait tanked abaddon, meaning it was pointless for us to stay out. At that point, we deaggroed and overheated RR to keep everyone up long enough to dock.
So tell me- which side is fail in engagements like that?

We rarely have 6 people in fleet- much less 6 RR alts. Last time you guys willingly fought us, we had a fleet of 5. 4 of us were in DPS BS, and our 5th was a friend in an RR megathron IIRC. Despite having a fleet of 5, we stayed aggressed as your fleet of 20+ landed and engaged us, only deaggroing after your neutral RR managed to pull up your bait tanked abaddon, meaning it was pointless for us to stay out. At that point, we deaggroed and overheated RR to keep everyone up long enough to dock.
So tell me- which side is fail in engagements like that?

Well, the original theme of the thread was the orphanage running away because they only had 2 to 1 odds. it did its job and got you guys to fight, so thnaks for fighting anyhow, even if it took 24 hours and an increase to 4 to 1 odds, i got some kills and died a bunch, oh well **** happens. gotta die sometimes.

i am confused as to the change in topic from the original post to the final post by the OP. based on the battle report you undocked a torp neut phoon on some dessies and a couple battleships. now i am no professional but i dont think a thrasher is built to tank a phoon. there are alot of new people in the alliance who have yet to develop such elite pievpie skills such as you have. so be patient and one day they will give you the fights you are looking for. if you wish to discuss this further please feel free to send me a mail in game with the ship type you wish to fight with and i will gladly give you a proper 1 v 1, since you are so fired up and confident about your ability to beat anyone in the alliance 1 v 1. thanks for making this thread btw. was having a terrible day at work and needed someone to point and laugh at. when you are done pan-handling please go to the library and log into eve and find me.

TL;DR - OP was the first night i tried to fight orphange, because they wouldnt fight me when i was all on my lonesome. so i made the post, because as i said, was bored. and it served its purpose its brought the oprhanage to finally come out and show me what they can do, which turns out, is basically what anyone else can do, that is, Blob, props for being able to do at least that, the post only escalated because you guys were upset someone was flaming your alliance for not fighting, it was a fun thread, and yes the orphanage inflicted more isk damage on me than i did them, but for the odds, i did pretty well considering, so gf's, and have fun ganking haulers.

Which does happen, certainly, but it sure can't be the expectation. Even 8 to 4, you sure as heck shouldn't lose a single ship.

Is this how EVE works, as a begginer to PVP I would have thought the Tactical retreat and return with superiority is a good move, whereas the charging blindly against superior numbers would be considered fail, am I missing something?
The idea of PVP is to annihilate your enemies is it not? Does it matter how this is done, as long as it is done?
"blobbing" seems the smarter move here, it allows the FC to gain experience organizing numbers, while assuring the destruction of your enemies and generally this leads to a relaxed situation where a few friends who share the same goal of killing Commander Predator, can work toghever to achieve that goal with minimuum of losses/effort. |

THey already had a blob when they retreated, it was just wasnt big enuff blob for them i guess. and yes it is the "Smarter" way of fighting, but fortunatley its not RL where it matters a whole lot, its a game for fun. Sol- frankly, what The Orphanage did in this situation was something to be expected. At the time that Predator undocked, they were fit for long-range alpha damage to pop small ships before they warp off. In order to fight close up, they needed to refit their ships to not be worthless in actual combat (read: lack of tank). In the process of refitting, they called in friends to help them in on the kill.
Yes, it was a predictable thing to do, and yes it was they way to ensure they got a kill- but that's not what the OP is arguing. Commander is saying that The Orphanage lacks the ability to beat their enemies using skill rather than numbers. This argument is very true, and I'd challenge any members of The Orphanage to link a single engagement on their own KB where their numbers and ships were less than the opposition, and they managed to come out on top in efficiency.
Again- there's nothing wrong with playing to win, but frankly, it's a lot more satisfying to win a 2v5 than a 5v2.

Note that first battle report- Here. It's listed as a 2v5 because not pictured in the report are a guardian on my side (Which is also mentioned in a comment here)- as well as a rapier on the hostile side, which is also mentioned in the same comment.
I'm honest about the fact that I often use logistics ships or RR BS- I've never denied it. It doesn't lessen the accomplishment of winning in a 2v5- and as far as I'm concerned, consistent use of rooks & falcons is really no different than consistent use of RR.
I don't complain about the ships you bring to fights- I just think it's silly you need so many to take on so few :)

I may not dock and undock at will ... my falcon / rook anytime it gets too hot .. I have an aggression timer unlike your remote repping slaves
2) I'm specd to fly ecm ... so that would kinda dictate what i bring to a fight
3) Its silly to you because anytime anything close to a fair fight .. you will dock up ... thats why the blob ... we have you kill you in the time you de-aggress and only DPS can solve that issue ... welcome to empire warfare ...

Honestly the point behind the OPs post is because he couldn't get a handful of members in a MERC alliance to engage him under his terms. He then proceeds to get "disappointed" because said MERC alliance then employed tactics that ensure he dies and doesn't just dock up. This "disappoints" him because again it wasn't under his terms. Frankly IMO the biggest fail the OP did in all this is post this thread prematurely, the second he posted this he immediately negated any chance of him dictating the terms of any engagements.
To sit here and say the Orphanage has no skill and can only win in numbers is honestly a pretty naive and arrogant statement. That's like saying you can't get a kill without RR and being inside the 4-4 undock. My point is your limited experience against mostly our "special" orphans hanging out in Jita isn't a great judge of everyone's pvp capabilities. Just like my knowledge of you only ever fighting with RR in Jita doesn't mean you're not a capable pilot under different circumstances. That said the one thing that is making the orphanage such a formidable force in high sec is the fact we can organize large gangs quickly and counter most threats.
I do have to say that your 2v5 does look like it would've been a fun fight and is fairly impressive. That said it would've been amazing going up against that solo and still coming out on top and would've been doable. I myself prefer soloing and taking on larger odds, I mean IMO nothing teaches you the capabilities of your ship better. I could link you a few engagments of my own that would meet your challenge and maybe will do some other time as right now I can't be bothered.

Fair- but you also have the advantage of staying at a range of 60+ km away from a fight w/out taking into account range rigs, which can boost that to over 100km- meaning that you're in no danger of being hit by short/midrange weapons, nor tackled by anything short of an arazu/lachesis. To be quite honest, I'd take remote repping from 100km with an aggression timer over repping from 8km with no agression timer any day.

I'd be more than happy to fight you with even numbers. If you could give me an example of a time I've actually docked up to avoid a so-called fair fight, please do- not trying to be antagonistic, but I honestly can't think of a time I've docked to privs/orphans when they didn't at least outnumber my fleet 2:1.

i never said anything about fighting on my terms. i think if you knew how to read, youd understand that i clearly said i was engaging under your guys terms. i undocked, at range, which was good for your long range maelstrom, not good for my close range phoon, tackled at 40km away, by a stiletto, with a big station in between us, not only did you guys not even attempt to shoot me, they warped or docked, and instead of bringing something else out, they logged. biggest ***** mercs ive ever seen.
Ive been playing eve long enuff to see every tactic of pvp usable, the post was made because its just pathetic and funny at the same time, a merc corp that runs from the people they decced because they undocked something other than a hauler. now, to help you guys live, you ran and waited till you had larger numbers, you guys say because it was the smart thing to do, to make sure no one died, however, even with your 16 man blobs, you still lost ships (lol) to a fleet not even a reasonable fraction the size of your blob, the point of this post, is to laugh at how horrible you guys are.
And yes i admit again, you did cause more isk damage to me, but again, i dont care about isk, its a game, its more fun to laugh at people who make a corp and an alliance, call themselves mercs, and then suck horribly at it and claim their awesome on the forums. get skill, and stop crying that you cant take me without 16 people.
Also dirk - i looked at your kb stats, most of your kills are blob kills, dont claim you like to solo, because you obviously dont.

So long story short you gank a t2 fit pilgrim at a trade to a faction fit vigilant, such amazing efficiency sunshine. But then again Im sure you meant to lose it anyway.
So let me get this straight, you've been pvping for sooooo long that you've seen every usable tactic? Then how the hell did you fall for damnation bait? And how the hell did you not pull drones for deaggro? Plus how come you change the subject when people do offer you 1v1. I'll even 1v1 and it could be a good fight, the only downside is idk if I could put up with another excuse for why you lost another ship.

Yes, I do have blob kills on my kb, I also have large and small gang fight kills, and solo kills in my stats. Having any kind of those kills on my stats doesn't mean I don't like soloing, that is my preferred pvp style. That however doesn't mean I will completely ignore CTAs or fly with m8s for fun. See I know you don't understand the concept of friends, but flying around ganking **** while joking on comms is alot of fun sometimes. Also, your really one too talk, most of your kills aren't solo and alot are blob kills. In fact the only solo kills I see on your KB are hulk ganks and frig kills. So nothing horribly impressive there cupcake.

Good for you on pvping for fun, after all it is a game. We pvp and play the game for fun also, one form of fun we have is getting a rise out of people like you which we have done successfully. Have in mind that u have better score on BC then most of them. Looking at your kills u usually have max 2 ppl on KM, while all this "pvpers" always have at least 5 if not more.
Us two have same problems, just learn to live with blobers and smackers. We all know who they are..
