G'day everyone. Soon I'm off to wormhole space, aiming for C3 for starters. I must admit I am inexperienced there. I know little of the Sleepers combat wise, aside from the fact that they spidertank starting in iirc C3's and upward.
Now what I'm curious about is what I should aim for DPS/Tank wise when fitting my future Tengu for such a task. Before some might say: don't try it alone - I will be accompanied by a friend in either a Loki or scimitar, possbily tossing in an alt to aid me further.
Lets for this question say i were to be facing off with a C3 sleeper BS class. What would you reckon I would need to be able to tank, and what DPS figure would be a bare minimum to even put a dent in its tank?
Info, and even fit suggestions are welcome.
thank you in advance.

1000 DPS tank-Omni tanked, means all resists are fairly equal... 500 DPS output
you could manage with less tank, but you NEED TO KEEP MOVING!
look on battleclinic for some really nice fits. :D

I'm managing with a <500dps tank Legion and not max rep/resists/speed skills... maybe shield sig size/Caldari speed is a huge issue. |

Edited by: Zelador on 16/07/2010 19:54:26 650dps Omi tank for combat sites (need 1.1k+ for Radar and Mag sites) 500dps+ fit below on what i use
[Tengu, WH tengu] Tengu Defensive - Amplification Node Tengu Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer Tengu Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix Tengu Offensive - Accelerated Ejection Bay Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
5x Heavy Missile Launcher II (Scourge Fury Heavy Missile)
Large Shield Booster II 2x Shield Boost Amplifier II 2x Invulnerability Field II Photon Scattering Field II
3x Ballistic Control System II Dark Blood Power Diagnostic System 'Deuce' Co-Processor I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I 2x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
i have no problems running C3 Sites with this fitting if u have about 200mil spare u can put on a pith B-type and you will be laughing till u get ganked :P swap the furys out for normal or faction ammo for frigs or cruisers furys for bs
864dps omi tank and 528dps

i do c3 sites with a legion with all faction mods cept my MAR which is a centum a-type and i can tank any combat site just fine with 620DPS omni tank, while cap stable. u could probably do it with 500 but u would have to b careful. another thing. sleepers do mixed damage. one sec they might b doing thermal then they do EM ect. so the damage is really random so u always want to have high resists for everything. you can do it alone, and if u have just one scimitar it will probably die cause they will primary it (sleeper AI is advanced) so u will need two. but i dont see the point. its just a waist of time and money if u have to split it. its also a risk to them so...u can make more money if u do it bye ur self, which is very very possible (combat sites at least) radar and mag sites r very hard and will need a huge tank, all mods complex with max skills and 2 t2 rigs for my legion to b able to tank that damage. the main thing u wil have to worrie about is people who are gonna gank u...so keep an eye on ur scanner.

Another thing to know about C3 Sleepers is that EVERYBODY webs. So if your tank relies on speed you might want to rethink your fit.
Logi ships WILL get primaried which is why spider tanking is a good practice.
Pro tip: Any Sleeper with "Preserver" in it's name is a logistics ship and needs to die first, unless they are the trigger of course.

Edited by: Daneel Trevize on 18/07/2010 18:40:48 It's not that sleepers do random damage or switch to your lowest resists, it's that their lasers do 50/50 EM/Thermal, and the missiles do 50/50 Kin/Explo. But the BSs can't track almost at all even when you're 6xwebbed down from ~500m/s AB if you're <14km from them, so if you knew which way to be flying before you pop each trigger, you could probably favour resisting the missile damage. But don't rely on auto orbit, and watch for structures/ships, coz a dip in transv is a lost t3. |

No, everyone does not. Not even in C4. And only a fair few scram. Get your facts straight before you post.

You realize faction, damage specific hardeners have same resist amount, just less CPU usage? And maybe Cap.
Also, this fit will not be able to do all sites in a C4 (the profession sites with 4x safeguard BS come to mind).

Its not only preservers, but more specifically:
Emergent Upholder Emergent Keeper Awakended Presever Awakended Warden Sleepless Preserver Sleepless Warden

Made a fit similar to the above (typing from work so I might have mistaken a slot in the mids):
Amplification Node Accelerated Ejection bay CPU Efficiency gate Fuel Catalyst Capacitor Regeneration Matrix
5x HML II w/Scourge (fury, precision, or faction)
Y-s8 Hydrocarbon Afterburner CN Medium booster Invuln II Invuln II Pith B Photon Scattering Field (had this one lying around) CN SBA
DCU II CPR II 3x BCU II
Medium Core Defense Operational Solidifier I Medium Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I Medium CCC I
Permatank without teh AB and good DPS.
Will try her in a few missions first to see what goes down tonight. |
