I recount my first time at chick... Everyone lauded how amazing it was... I tired the chicken... It was not. Then they stated "The ice tea!!! Did you have the ice tea!!?" I went back... it was just horrible southern style ice tea with 2 pounds of sugar in it.
Long story short there's nothing special about it. Also I don't get people who started to go there just cause the guy is anti gay.... Who the **** cares? Like conservatives rushing into whole foods all of a sudden after the CEO wrote an opinion on health care.
You red necks hated that hippie haven not too long ago. (And yes it is full of pretentious hipster liberal **** bags... Good salad bar and surprising good alcohol selection though. Kudos to that.)

First: lol
B: LBGTs are in many respects considered a minority, and protected from hate-crimes, in many states.
However, let's not forget that what Chick-Fil-A has said doesn't rise to the level of hate-crime... all they've said is that they believe in christian values and that they don't support gay marriage. They have not said that LBGTs aren't welcome in their restaurants.
3: One might argue that even if they HAD said they don't want LBGTs in their restaurants, that couldn't be considered a hate-crime either. to deconstruct that argument, let's imagine the following example:
one food-chain says it doesn't want gay couples in their restaurants. another food-chain says it doesn't want black couples in their restaurants. which is more likely to be sued by an individual? which is more likely to getting involved in a class-action suit? and which is more likely to lose in court?

IMO, people should be able to do whatever the hell they want-- as long as they don't push it on everybody else. The thing is, in this crazy country (the U.S.A.), if people are in some recognized category, they'll eventually start pushing for that to be a protected class. And there will always be people that abuse that. "You didn't reprimand me because my performance sucks-- you reprimanded me because I'm [a female, a Zoroastrian, an Antarctic-American, whatever]!" "Oh no, male Wiccans are under-represented among senior police officers, we'd better promote some up!"
Kind of seems like LGTG is headed toward becoming a category, i.e. a protected class. Which is fine. I just hope people don't cynically abuse it to get advantages or preferences over other people. Here's hoping...

Everyone in the US has the right to free speech. Everyone also has the right to suffer the repercussions of said speech. Luckily for this business no press is bad press. All I am saying is that this whole issue is just a chance for people to show their already excessively large asses. I just want to know the collective calories swallowed down because of this interview

Well, it has been known for some time that the aforementioned company does provide large sums of money to groups that presume to remove rights from gays, and/or prevent us from acquiring the ones we don't have. This litte media tiff is highlighting that, especially. It's all free speech, but when money starts getting thrown around it becomes political, private enterprise or not. |

How many boycotts have conservative groups conducted over the years and aren't these 'extremists' practising the same rights as others accuse them as trying to squelch? Indeed it does appear some people can't handle others opposing viewpoints.

Chick-Fil-A may not rise to the level of hate crime, but they donate millions of dollars to people who encourage others to, they also actively support groups dedicated to denying LBGT people basic civil rights.
