So I'm going to China for a couple of weeks soon, and need advice on any programs or sites I might need to use to be able to get around that Great Firewall thing of theirs. What will I generally have trouble accessing? Will I be able to get onto Tranquillity and the Eve Website from there? I thought I'd try and prepare my laptop prior to getting there for any problems I might run into. I generally want to be able to access online modes of different games, while also being able to browse my usual websites.
Anybody have any experience with this sort of thing? Help and advice would be much appreciated.

You could probably devise something with netcat or SSH to get around any restrictions they have if you can get yourself a machine to play middle man outside the country. Little excessive though :P

Only thing I've done is gotten it to run on a remote machine and have it send commands to the shell that I would send over tcp. I do know there is a method of getting completely around firewalls if you set up to forward the packets instead of piping them to the shell, little more complicated though.
Don't know how much inspection china does on packets, and netcat doesn't encrypt, so you may want to use SSH for tunneling.

its... really not that bad
yes, you can access anything ccp related from china. except, ofc, the youtube channel. they dont like youtube very much there.
you're only there for a couple of weeks. so i dont really think u'll have too much problem.
as far as package check and stuff...
they set up the blockage, but they don't really "maintain" it, aside from adding a few sites here and there. so if you wanna go around it, as long as you dont go infront of a police station and act crazy, u'll be fine.
consider it more or less of drugs. illegal, but a lot of ppl does it anyways. |

Alrighty, cheers for the help guys. I think I'll be trying out Tor, and if Eve works fine I'm sure I'll make it through my stay there just fine.

I would go for some SSH tunneling
But you need a remote SSH server...
