That's right, CCP is the only group in the world that would ever think to name a ship/aircraft after the west wind / Greek god of the west wind.

Aside from the name, it has nothing to do with EVE.
There are millions of things out there with names the same as those from EVE, we'd rather not have to see them all.

Ok, maybe I need to get out more. You know you have a problem when CNN stories about the Zephyr make you think of EVE.

For instance, the word amarr occurs in Ursala K. LeGuin's novel The Dispossessed, as the word for brother. See? No one wanted to hear that. Trolls? In my EVE forums? It's more likely than you think...

It just shows that the EVE content team tasked with comming up with names does a good job at finding fitting names, much like they do in aviation.
Quote:
The Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), sometimes known as the sea hawk or fish eagle, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey.
Quote:
The name kestrel is given to several different members of the falcon genus, Falco.
Quote:
Zephyrus, or just Zephyr (Greek: Ζέφυρος, ZTphuros, "the west wind")
Quote:
In Celtic mythology Taranis was the god of thunder
Raven kinda doesnt need a quote I guess
It's rather common to name stuff that flies after stuff that flies ========================== Nothing is true, everything is permitted. ========================== |

Edited by: Stitcher on 17/07/2010 13:50:58 the British Ministry of Defence are also developing an unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV) by the name of "Taranis".
Taranis is the celtic god of thunder, btw, before anyone asks.
EDIT: smeg, beaten to it. -

No, you need to get out LESS.
Society shouldn't have to tolerate the likes of you on the streets.
