Agony Summer Recruitment
Overview- 4 year old corp Agony Unleashed as the sole corp of Agony Empire alliance. This one leadership one corp model has worked very effectively for us
- 23/7 corp with 135 actual people in squadrons representing each major timezone: Euro (Alpha), US (Charlie), and Aussie (Echo). Each timezone is currently recruiting experienced pvpers only
- No Politics. We maximize our targets by having as few blues as possible. We do not believe in blueing people so that they won't shoot at us
- Solo and Small to Medium Gang Warfare with fights between 5-40 in gang. Ganking is boring. We prefer on par or challenging fights. We respect those that fight us. All accepted 1v1s are honored
- Sov space in Providence (see recruitment poster) home to many other alliances we are neutral with and fight on a daily basis with an agreement to not challenge each other's sov and fight against larger entities wanting to take sov. This is our Providence Fight Club. Our rule is to fight everyone. Here's a list of mentionable opponents we've fought with since the beginning of July: Resident members of Providence Fight Club
- Against All Authorities <.-A-.>
- Atlas Alliance <ATLAS>
- Chaos Theory Alliance <CHAOT>
- Circle-Of-Two <CO2>
- Curatores Veritatis Alliance <CVA>
- Daisho Syndicate <DAI>
- Flying Dangerous <FIGL>
- Gentlemen's Club <STRPR>
- HYDRA RELOADED <HYDRA>
- Imperial 0rder <I0>
- IT Alliance <-IT->
- Legio Astartes Arcanum <LEGIO>
- Noir. Mercenary Group <NMG.>
- Razor Alliance <RZR>
- Shock and Awe <-AWE->
- Sodalitas XX <0RDR>
- Ushra'Khan <UNITY>
- Lots of PVP. Our killboard is private but I can give you the monthly kill stats over the last 3 months:
- May - 1,841 ship kills (129.04 Billion isk)
- June - 1,739 ship kills (94.33 Billion isk)
- July 1st - 15th - 912 ship kills (54.49 Billion isk)
What we're looking for- Experienced 0.0 pvpers. Having taken one of our pvp classes is a plus
- Attitude of make isk in order to pvp. Not the other way around
- A preference towards being a part of a tight-knit community rather than peons in a large alliance
- Open and sharp mind for pvp. We employ creative tactics in pvp and you need to keep up
- Sense of humor
- Pvpers who have been around in EVE and are looking for long term membership in a well organized but casual pvp corp
What we're NOT looking for- New players or new pvpers. Having taken one of our classes does not alone qualify you as an experienced pvper
- Players that haven't pvped much and want to learn pvp. However, I'd encourage you to take our pvp-basic class located on our website: www.agony-unleashed.com
- Drama Llamas
- Drones that have to be micromanaged and told how to fly their ship
What we offer- Experienced and Intelligent pvpers
- T2 ships at, or slightly below market value
- Sovereignty in space filled mostly with hostiles
- Small - medium fleets, often headed by a bonkers South African engaging larger fleets belonging to our neighbors
- Lots of opponents
- Upgraded Sov Ratting in Providence as an option for funding your pvp

A little about myself and Agony.
I've been in Agony for over 4 years. The last 3.5 years I've been a director. I've gotten burned out in EVE before, left and tried other MMOs only to come back revamped. EVE really is the best long-term satisfaction MMO. I fly all ships including caps and all races. Lately I've spent most of my time in Logistic ships, Triage Archons, and T3 ships as well as devising creative tactics, and making videos and pictures (I made the recruitment poster above). I've been involved in 200 man fleets and small 5v5 fights but I prefer the 15-20 v 15-20 fights.
I've also seen Agony evolve throughout the years from a nomadic npc-space corp to a sov holding alliance that picks fights with its neighbors while looking after their interests to make sure they keep giving us good fights. When all other alliances have decline in membership and leadership goes inactive for the summer, Agony remains in high morale with an active leadership and memberbase getting lots of good fights every day of the week. I've seen Agony members leave over the years to try out other alliances with very large capital fights. Most of them come back. The rest quit EVE.
One misconception about Agony is that we are a noob training corp. While we do teach new pvpers in our public pvp classes, we are a pvp corp first and we teach pvp classes on the side. I myself am not very involved in the pvp university but I recognize the hard work the instructors that teach those classes put into it.
I'm happy to chat in game or on ventrilo. Send me an evemail and good luck finding the right corp for you. Have fun.

Edited by: Silas Sanyasi on 19/07/2010 23:12:14 I was already a decently skilled PvP pilot when i attended Agony's BASIC class, but the opportunity to take part in a 50+ man frigate gang and possibly learn a thing or two in the process was too good to pass. The level of organization I experienced in class was something completely new to me and I was throughly impressed. It was a blast, and we got a ton of kills on the roam.
The corp I was running with at the time was not as active as I would have liked and I was looking for a change of scenery. After looking around for a while, I decided to put in an application with Agony, and got accepted. I have now been a member for 18 months.
If you're looking for a corp that is well organized, friendly and fun to fly with this is the place for you. We enjoy good fights. We try, and succeed, at hitting above our weight class. We maintain as few blues as possible to maximize our number of potential targets. We are casual, but take our game seriously. We have tons of fun

After a my first year of EVE i read a forum post about how Agony offered PVP classes for noobies and i decided to join. Before my first basic roam had ended i was hooked and attended many more classes until finally applying to join.
My early days in Agony i spent flying frigs, i learned that blob warfare is not the only warfare in null sec space and it was very easy to find small gang or solo pvp in all time zones.
Eventually i tried my hand at FC'ing gangs and gained alot of advise and encouragement from my fellow members. I started of with small ships, then i went onto lead some PVP class roams and now i have lead everything from sniper HAC's to RR BS.
Sometimes i wonder what it would be like to take part in huge cap battles or yarr in low sec but the main thing that keeps me here is the attitude. We do not think we are elite or gods gift to pvp, nor do we feel the need to tell the rest of eve how important we think we are. Our only concerns are finding fights, having fun and learning cool new stuff.
So if you are tired of being a nobody in a large alliance or fed up of defending your E-honor on meaningless forums that you just want to kill stuff, Agony might be the home for you.

We had a bit of fun last night / early this morning when a decent sized armor hac-ish gang from Daisho Syndicate came around. Being outnumbered and out-gunned at the time was not an excuse not to try something so we organized a welcoming rave.

No hard feelings. A "well played" from Daisho. Lots of respect for them. They're good neighbors to have around. Smart, good-natured, and give challenging fights

I've been playing Eve for just over two years, the first twenty months or so in Eve University in various capacities. So I thought I had a good knowledge base to build upon for a more dedicated PvP focus for my activities.
Holy Hundreds of kills, Batman! These guys (and gals) are the real deal, they were teaching tactics I had never encountered, coming up with new ones, polishing up old ones.
I was blown away by the piloting skills they have developed individually and in gangs.
We now hold sov in providence, hunt targets constantly, and generally have a hell of a lot of fun. And I'm still playing catch up, but loving every minute of it.
If you are curious about this PvP thing, take an AGONY class. If you are serious, submit an application

I have been playing EVE for about 4-5 years now and have been with Agony for almost 2 years. I was drawn to their professionalism and attitude towards PvP. One of the things I love is we are focused, determined, and ambitious as well as light hearted and fun with a passion for the game of EVE. I have grown to call everyone in Agony my friends. Here you arenÆt just another number in a blob or some random person in an Alliance. In Agony every member is an essential keystone to making things work.
I have tried my hand at other adventures in EVE and honestly nothing was the same as it was in Agony. I donÆt think I could see myself playing EVE if I wasnÆt here. We are a true brotherhood. One of my fondest memories was the first time I competed in the Alliance Tournaments and slaughtered our way to the Quarter Finals
If you are looking for some great PvP but more importantly some great people to play with Agony is definitely the place to be, but donÆt forget to bring your ôA Gameö.

About 2 years ago, I picked up EVE at the recommendation from a friend and joined up with his Corp. I didnÆt know very much about EVE but luckily the Corp I joined was AGONY Unleashed. Despite my inexperience and skill points, these guys took me in and taught me the ropes.
Now, two years and 20 million skill points later, I call these guys my brothers. We often fight out numbered and outgunned but we give as much as we get, sometimes with a little extra. We might not win all fights, but they are almost always good fights.
If youÆre tired of being a ôdroneö and want to be an individual in a very tight knit Corp, AGONY is the place for you.

I've played this game off and on for a bit over 3 years now, and it has been quite the journey. Starting off as a carebear mission runner/miner, I played for too long in the starter corp and finally left for Hadean Drive Yards. Spent awhile there learning the tricks of the trade and generally enjoying the new group I was running with.
One thing I heard from our military wing, over and over again, was about Agony Unleashed and the classes they ran. What stood out to me was, that here was a group the ran around in null sec, having fun and not having to deal with the normal politics of null sec, nor the usual pages long list of blues. It took awhile but I got into one of their Basic classes and saw what my corp mates were talking about.
After that class, I decided that one day I'd join agony myself. I joined up with faction warfare and played around with that for awhile. Then I applied to and was accepted by Agony. Its been a blast these past 6 months, and I couldn't have hoped for a better group to run with in this game. It seems like there's always something to to learn, and usually someone around that is willing to share that information. So yea, great pilots, fun group to run around with, minimal blue list and plenty of pvp makes for great times. |

Edited by: DaDutchDude on 31/07/2010 11:49:43 Being part of Agony is also adapting to ever changing circumstances.
In recent times, our new home turf of Providence has been shaken by the hostile take over of Ushra'Khan by a disgruntled director, handing over control of the alliance and its sovereignty to the uncrowned meta-game champions of HYDRA Reloaded. And with blood in the water, the sharks come looking for a snack to chew on. Where others would perhaps worry about assets and safety, Agony has embraced the situation as an opportunity for getting more pew pew with new adversaries only a few jumps away.
One of the sharks that has been swinging around in Providence recently (even before said events) is RAZOR. We've had some great fights with them, but their Armor HAC gangs are not easily defeated. With the KBP system coming out of the final stages of reinforced and a fresh RAZOR tower planted in system, we knew they (and perhaps others) would be coming by for a visit. Agony sees this as a perfect opportunity to unleash an old tactic, the smartbombing battleship on a bubble, against a new foe: the AB Armor HAC. 14 smartbombing battleships, 2 interdictors and 2 covops take on RAZORs 50 man Armor HAC gang. What happened can be seen and heard (voice comms included) in the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH0JIrYfW68.
The end result: 65 kills, including 1 command ship, 16 HACs, 10 Logistics, 1 HIC, 2 recons, 1 interdictor and 1 faction frig for only one BS loss. Infinitely more important then the killmails: we had fun. I still can't stop giggling like a little girl while looking back at this video. Watch the video, listen to the voice comms, see how we operate. This is Agony.
Bump this thread if you support us. And thanks for reading all this rambling. _____________________________________

Well, I haven't bumped our thread in over a week now because, honestly, I've (we've) been so busy playing in-game. So much has been going on the last 2 weeks. It's been a blast, literally.
Last night we saw the result of one of our fun tactics Durka (smartbombing) battleships when we got the chance to test it against a large 50 man armor hac gang by Razor Alliance. DaDutchDude wrote a better summary of what happened above so I'll let you read that but I'll drop a link to the video thread everyone's talking about:
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1362009
I love this corp!
I'll be giving you guys some more videos I've frapsed of some of the fun we've had in the last week. Stay tuned.
Oh yeah, btw... we're still recruiting

I can't stop watching that video .
I actually organized that gang to make a point to the other alliances we share Providence with (not blue but under the No Invasion Pact). Numbers is not the answer. You don't need a bigger blob. You need organization and when someone brings an organized fleet with a proven and powerful tactic, you need that organization along with discipline and creativity to counter it.
That is what Agony is about.

Since joining Agony I've been able to:
- Have more fun fights than I can count
- Constantly learn and help develop new tactics
- Assist with teaching PVP Basic classes (thousands of graduates and still going strong)
- Fly in the 6th and 8th Alliance Tournaments
- Commentate live on Eve TV for the 7th Alliance Tournament and on stage at Fanfest 2009
- Get elected twice to the Council of Stellar Management
We have a laugh and we shoot other ships, what else do you want from a corp

Uncontrolled growth is detrimental to any corp or alliance. I've seen it many times. That's one reason we do not take in more members than we can mentor. US is almost filled up for now. We can accommodate more EU and AU though.
