Halp!
I have skills for both but how to actually fly them? I am too afraid to join any roaming gangs with those and im afraid that I just fail horribly. :(
I think that zealot would be better for me but would the vaga be more noob friendly?

try this:
[Vagabond]
Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Tracking Enhancer II Tracking Enhancer II Tracking Enhancer II
Warp Disruptor II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
220mm Vulcan Autocannon II 220mm Vulcan Autocannon II 220mm Vulcan Autocannon II 220mm Vulcan Autocannon II 220mm Vulcan Autocannon II Medium 'Gremlin' Power Core Disruptor I
Medium Polycarbon Engine housing I Medium Polycarbon Engine housing I
Warrior II x 5
Find victim, target, then hit MWD and drop into orbit around him/her at about 18-20 kilometers, engage Warp Disruptor/guns and--voila! If all went well--then, you'll still be in your Vaga and he/she will be in a pod. ;)

Do what everyone who asks a question on this forum is told: fly something cheaper first.
If you've never flown a HAC before, taking one out will probably result in it going poof very quickly. To practice how to fly a vagabond you can use a stabber or a shield tanked rupture. The omen would be cheapo equivalent of a zealot but generally isn't very good.
To take it back to basics, you learn the most about how to fly by flying t1 frigs (rifters are the best for that). Nothing is sadder to see than a new player to waste the potential of a HAC but it takes many losses to learn. Its just that you're better off taking those losses in t1 ships until you don't need to ask how to fly them because you'll know for yourself through experience.

The thing about HACs is so long as you know to be a total coward and not engage anything you don't have 110% chance of killing, you won't lose the ship. The magic of HACs is that YOU can force whether an engagement happens or not, and if you just choose "NOT" in a situation that is AT ALL risky, you'll be fine. Don't play with fire, and you won't get burned, basically. As soon as you get greedy and start taking people on where you don't have that 110% chance of victory, you'll run the risk of dying.

For the Zealot, I would suggest a sniper fit. Allows you to still contribute to the fight while also being able to avoid some of the heat.

This is what I fly besides the rigs. I got rigs that increase falloff, but that is personal preference. As long as you stay to this general fit you will be fine.

Edited by: Emperor Ryan on 20/07/2010 11:14:46 There's only one way to go about,
first you start in a stabber, it cost 3million, does half the dps and gets half the range and EHP of a vaga, however same speed.
Learn how to kite how to fight in fall off, and most important, Dictate range, If the fight flips and it looks like your going to die, You can also Overload, and Burn away.
Once Stabber is mastered you go for Vaga, After 500+ kills in a vaga (takes like... what 2 months?) Go for a cynabal.
Stabber fit: x4220's Med neut small nos X1LSE (Or tracking disruptor) x1 24k point, x1 mwd x1 Tracking Enhancer, x1 Nano, x1 Gyro
Extender rigs
Vaga is the same just more slots
220's Med/small neut - Salvager ( normlay i never need my nuet so instead i make a good amount of cash from t2 salvage)
x2 LSE x1 24km point x1 mwd
The lows are tricky, some fit damage controls etc the trick here is speed and aglitty,
X2 Tracking Enhancer x2 Gyro x1 nano , You can drop a gyro or TE for another nano, But i dont like it myself.
ecm drones or warriors
Have RF EMP PP Fusion, and Barrge in cargo, and if you're really worried about frigs use that tracking bonus ammo
Cynabal
425 x4 faction med Neut x2 LSE x1 Invul x1 30k point x1 faction mwd (can fit a tracking disruptor too)
x2 TE x2 Gyro x1 nano,
x5 valks, or x5 ecm and x5 Warrs
And the Stabber fleet, IS just a tracking god, put 180's or 220's mwd orbit a frigate and shoot, and you'll track perfectly, but its a but of a ship on it's own could be an improved stabber, but better off with a vaga

Flying a rupture is totally diffrent, You dont orbit at 15k and shoot barrage generally in a rupture. Start in a stabber if your going vaga, since its the exact same fighting style no differnces whatsoever - Emperor

This. Infinitely better and more vaga like than a Stabber.
