Hey all,
so my buddy and I came up with an idea this weekend during our usual intoxicated EvE adventures.
Basically the idea is for a Street Fighter style PvP tournament. Each match is 1v1. Each player chooses 3 frigates of any kind, and equips them with any t1 modules they want. The exception being, no repairers and no rigs. Once each player has their 3 ships set up, the battle begins. for the first fight, both players warp to 0 at an agreed to celestial, count down 3, 2, 1, FIGHT! They then battle until one frig is destroyed. The destroyed player then flies to station, grabs their second frig, and returns to a range of their choice. The winning player waits at his last position, with no repairs allowed, for the new ship to arrive. both players are free to engage as soon as the new ship arrives.
there are no ship-repeats allowed. i.e. you cant just bring 3 rifters.
this format I think would be a really fun way for people who claim to be elite PvPers to really prove their skills.
if we generate enough interest, my friend and I would like to begin filming the battles and posting them to youtube. we would also like to eventually implement entry fees, prizes, and side-wagering.
that is, if anybody would be interested in such a format?

My biggest problem with this is that frigates aren't that great of a PVP testbed.

good point, of course we could have divisions for different ship classes. we started with frigates on our trial run, because we're both pretty n00bish.
This format is different from RvB in a few ways. First of all, nobody would have to leave their current alliance/corp. battles would be held in null in a secured agreed to location.
the multi-ship per person aspect is what I think would make this particularly unique. having "extra-lives" to bring into a fight, would add a whole new element of strategy to duels. we have also invisioned some type of "tag-team" format, where a person can warp out to a safe, and have their partner warp in and resume fighting, again with no repairs allowed (except of course natural shield regen)

Not Really.
Arranged Fights- you can fit damn near whatever, but you can't come back once popped.
Random Roams- you can fit and fly whatever, and come back
HQ Camping - depends on attacking/defending
We do have member sponsored events though, that are alot like this.

You will put a lot of effort into organizing this and then someone(s) is bound to come **** in your cereal and camp you/kill you, if you do it in null sec like you said.
I would be interested in participating though, send me an eve mail with the details when you are ready.
If you want to do it in high sec, can aggro mechanics would work for this if everyone played fair. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Come shoot at me, I live in Heimatar. Please? |

I would certainly join in on this, even without prices/wages/whatever. As long as it's possible for me to be there. :) (/me is -10)

I'd lose, but I'm interested. I probably won't check back here but if you tell me when it is I'd come (probably) (assuming hi-sec can based dueling, I don't like getting podded in nullsec)

Sounds interesting but why such strict fitting requirements (T1, no rigs)? -----

This is not a good rule; some races want an armor tank. You shouldnĘt let shield tanks recover HP but not armor tanks. Just let the fighter with the destroyed ship try to get back before the opponent is fully recovered.

we'll be getting drunk and trying another trial run tonight, to further flesh out the idea. the purpose of having no rigs and nothing beyond meta 2 or so, is to level the playing field, and make the combat more skill based rather than gear based. this is open for debate. Im glad to see a few people interested, we will remember you if and when we ever get this thing off the ground.
