Hello CCP,
I am wondering if there are any plans of upgrading the sound effects in the game specially the weapons.
I think the missile launchers are not that bad, but the lasers, turrets e.c.t. really sound like from an Amiga commodore game from the 70's.
I thought since you've been working on Dust 514 you must have a brand new stock of weapon sounds, and i saw a video showing that you guys are also working on new animations for ship explosions.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a real "badaboom" going on if a ship explodes.
I mean i think all this kinds of sounds could be much more intense and loud. That would probably bring a whole new feeling to the game.

Agree.
Also, using the actual ship models (twisted and bent out of shape) instead of some metal-girder wreckage would be nice - its about time that happened! I wanna see a Caracal with a broken neck ;D |

Changing/updating sound effects would indeed be welcome. Especially on the weapons. On the other hand some of the changes they've done in the past weren't that successful if you ask me, stargates for example, the sound quality of the new effect is better, but the impact it has is a lot less. They used to be more impressive. I think the sound and particle effects in general could use a nice upgrade, they probably haven't really been touched since 2003. I was looking at the gate fire effect, and that could really be prettied up a bit. |

OT: If nothing else, increasing the range that you hear the weapon sounds would be a good start. It seems I have to zoom in pretty close to hear any of the action. Occasionally plays sober |

After the turret animation over-haul, please over-haul the turret sounds. The lasers especially sound meh, |

Seems as if at least one of the Devs has either had the same idea, or they actually read this thread.
In the folowing link i found that they will actually bring better sound effects to lasers, e.c.t. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/14/feature/6763/Winter-Expansion-Retribution-Unveiled.html
It says the ship engine sounds will be updated too? sounds interesting.
Also the salvaging Drones thing makes me curious.

The wreck structures IMO are pretty lackluster, and it would be cool to see some detailed wrecks at the subcapital level eventually.
But the only problem after this will be being able to tell whether or not a Minmatar ship is actually down or not if you're ignoring brackets and stuff for some reason. |

The weapons really do sound uninspiring. Even the autocannons don't sound like autocannons, especially the 800mm repeating artillery that has a automatic burst fire animations, but only fires a single boom as the old animation. |
