As rig trader/maker I have to wonder why TPS are gaining so much. I think it rose more then 200% in the last months. Did the droprate drop? Did the demand for shield rigs rise? Whats up?

I don't have the answer, but I know where you can get one; both suggestions can be easily c/d by checking volume.

Edited by: Lupalis Longtail on 20/07/2010 12:18:07 Well, you are right. My gut told me the market had not changed much in volume, and I can check that and did. - TPS rising very steady in price since last week of may. Volume same, or perhaps even a little down. - Med core defense shield extenders, prise is rising since halfway June. Manufacturing catching up. MCDS Purgers rising, but slightly less. Volume is been steady for more then 3 months. Drop rates o TPS salvage I cannot find, but this data seems to suggest the same volume. So whappened?

I'm not much into economic theory, but is it possible that demand rises -without showing a change in volume- for a product without alternative? I once read about price elasticity, and left confused.

There is less salvage on the market because:
1. It's summer, and the pasty and dishevelled mission runners en masse have decided to have a wash, a shave and a shower, pull on their swim shorts, and attempt to get a tan in some exotic location/their back garden.
2. The loot "nerf" from Tyrannis, while only removing most t1m0 loot from mission wrecks, may have had an effect on the MRs hoarding instinct.
I'm leaning more to the former. In the same way, I've noticed mineral prices increasing despite the predictions that they would hover around the insurance point, but I may well be wrong on this one.

And 3) The nerfing of insurance means that there are no longer thousands of battleships being self destructed every day for insurance and therefore no longer thousands being salvaged every day. Vote Illectro for CSM5! Supporting the New Generation of Eve Players |

No, Poland. It was touching about 32-33 in the shade last week. Extremely cold winters though
And to keep on topic ( ), tripped power circuits were going for 68k each in Jita last night. Dundun....duuun!

So anyone know what happened? When I was heading off to bed last night I was putting some Medium core defense shield extenders I'd bought up on market.
I looked the sell prices in my region and thought gee that looks a little low so I checked how much I had bought them for and it was a bit higher. Then out of curiousity I check the Jita pricing. Buy prices were pretty much the same slightly lower than my regional hub but the sell prices wow!
Wholly crap I'd bought the previous day for ~2.8 mil now the sell was over 4 mil each. I checked the trading stats and low and behold they were trading in volume at over 4 mil.
It was pretty late so I took a gamble that what ever is effecting the pricing just hasn't reached the regional market and bought up every unit in the region and re-listed slightly above the Jita Sell price.
It's going to be interesting to see what happens but I figure a 200 mil gamble that might pay 2/1 was worth the risk.
The question though is why the massive price spike?

[16]
Why the spike? There is a shortage in TPC. Sell volume on Jita, is TWENTYFOLD what is avail on sell orders! There is 40X more buy orders then listed for sale. The bare metal cost of MCDFE/P used o be around 1.6/1.8m Now its more 2.2
- If TPC reaches 150, MCD Field Extenders/Purgers will be worth 3M - If TPC reaches 200, Extenders/Purgers = 4Mil.
What always happened (without the surge in TPC or other salvage) is the periodical price peak on some rig. Either ppl buy the last remaining sell orders and relist, or they just sell out naturally. Every rig trader then knows to go play the 0.01 game in Jita for nice profit for a day or two. This is different, if the TPC shortage keeps going, 3 or 4 mil for shield rigs will be normal.
