Hi,
I consider a Vargur for my lvl4 missions. I used a 800mm Mael already and it was a nice diversion from my ordinary missile ships.
Only concern I have: Vargur vs Gurista. They are kinetic weak but I guess I can use Phased Plasma instead because thermal is their second weakness. But in addition to that Gurista tend to stay away from me. In this case Barrage would be nice but the damage type doesn't fit that well on paper.
Could anyone enlighten me with some real experiences - Vargur vs Guristas?

Stick an AB on there? Burn right up to them and stick some 800's up their backsides. I do on my Mael, takes some extra time however. You could shave some time off with an alt/willing buddy in something small and fast to web the foo'.

I ran Guristas Havens in 0.0 in a maelstrom fit comparable to a cookie clutter vargur fit (both ships tbh are fairly identical xcept some bonusses) and with an ab and PP had no issues maintaining ridiculusly high isk/hour ratios.
A vargur has much better falloff than a maelstrom so will perform even better in this regard.
Vargur will do fine against guristas and any other pirate faction to be honest.
edit: using 3 tracking mods minimal (2x enhancer 1x comp is what I use) is highly advisable. __________________________________________________

guristas will jam you, constantly, which makes any marauder terrible.
having said that guristas are easy to tank given their preference towards kinetic damage, just make sure to fit some eccm so you dont spend half your time jammed. ------------------- <unusual big structure 4tw> |
