After months, my corp is starting to grow . . . slowly. In the last three days I have been contacted twice by people who say they want to form an alliance of small corps. (First question is how did they know to contact me?)
Neither asked for money or anything for now, although they mentioned 'supporting the alliance' after it becomes active. Both seem willing to let one of my people participate in one of their operations to see how they do things.
My first thought was, "This is great!" My second thought was "If it seems to good to be true it probably is."
So what kind of scam might I get involved in by pursuing these alliance building efforts?

Sure they don't scam you! they openly stab you in the back..

iirc from that thread, the only backstabbing was on your part when you ran off with their cap fleet or something like that.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to vouch for the good nature of HYDRA RELOADED and the support that they provide to all fellow alliance mates. You could make a worse choice.

Various things that fail alliances can do:
--jerk you around on endless moves to places that all suck
--require idiot FCs to be in charge so you lose your ship all the quicker
--waste your alliance fees on things such as TCUs that they don't know how to place
--steal your alliance fees and spend them on T2 Hookers
--waste your time
Yes, all of the previously mentioned things have happened to me at some point in my EVE career.

Thanks all, but I was worried about things like getting the alliance fees dropped on us or something like that. I've had all the other things mentioned happen to me, too. It gets expensive real quick.
