...will take 38 days to train
Is it worth doing for someone wanting to do solo Level 4's? Or is this skill left at level 4 enough? My support skills are being worked on at the moment so I can't solo level 4's yet.
My attributes are good I think so this is the shortest amount of time it will for this skill to complete (all learning skills are at level 4 and 5 and I have all +3 learning implants).
Just out of curiosity, what are some of the longest training times you've encountered and what were those skills? This is the longest I've seen or heard of. ____________________

Edited by: Felix Esperium on 22/07/2010 22:26:07 well, amarr titan 5 would take twice that long...
Edit: forgot to answer the other question. you can leave it at 4 and be fine but it is nice to get at some point. I have caldari and amarr bs 5 on this character.

If you have level 4 battleship trained and all the right support skills, there is absolutely no need to get level 5 to solo level 4's, unless you want to fly a Marauder. If you are unable to solo level 4's with BS 4 then your support skills are not at their proper levels and therefore you should spend that 38 days training those support skills.

Try training up for a carrier.
Not only do you need [racial] Battleship 5 but you also need Drone Interfacing 5 (about 20-24 days), and Advanced Ship Command 5 (another 20-24+ days). This is on top of all the various support skills at 4 or 5 to support it properly, skills like; Jump Drive Operation (20+ days), Armor/Shield Compensation skills (to get all 4 of one type to lvl 5 is about 40 days), etc, etc...
You get the picture. _______________________

Slade has given the best summary of the situation.
Support skills are much more important than BS V, and L4s can be run with BS IV, or even III, as long as the support skills are trained.
It is still worth training, just wait until you either want to move to a marauder or have only 10+ day skills left to train

I'm going to give a more general answer:
Never train anything to level 5 unless it's the prerequisite for some piece of equipment you want.
In this case, you would train BS 5 to get Black Ops ships (used for covert fleet operations) or Marauders (for people that really love the BS type). If you're just using the BS to get missions done, and have something else you enjoy flying more, stop at 4 or even 3 and you're fine.

A suggestion: train it when you are going on a vacation/taking a month break from game due to real life stuff but keep the account active.

"Only" 28 with +3 implants in clarity5, focus 4, iron will 5, learning 5, spatial awareness 5 and a neural remap with lots of perception an willpower points.
But as said, for level 4's not a prerequisite. Nice if you want a marauder,-> kill and salvage at the same time.

BS V takes as long as it takes because it's also the prerequisite for all capital ships (not Rorqual though). So if you plan on using a BS for missions only there's no point in training BS V before other support skills (especially gunnery) even if those extra 10% weapon damage/armour resistances etc. are nice bonuses in them selves.

everything to 5, nothing else works...
joking, joking, though there are some skills that is a MUST to get to 5, that includes advanced weapon upgrades, recon, logistics, drone interfacing, heavy drone operation, stuff like that.

I believe you can viably run many lvl 4s in a domi or a raven (might be wrong) within 14 days. <racial> BS 5 is just for those who want to get them done faster or have capital aspirations
