Message body removed by EVE Gate because it may have contained some malicious HTML.
So apparently a link to a thread on our corp forum constitutes malicious HTML?
Seriously whos bright idea was it that you cannot link a ****ing webaddress in an evemail sent through evegate? How is it that EVE gate considers a link a "malicious HTML code" but if written using the ingame mail it will happily push the link WTF?
And here I thought I had finally found a use for this thing but nope, its still useless

Hehe personally I like how they designed an out-of-gate communication system that is dependant on tranquility being online. So forget catching up on your corp/alliance chatter during downtime or upgrades etc! D'oh.

Do you understand the relationship between TQ and EveGate? That they interact should be a clue. I suppose they could cache things, but that would be suboptimal, would you want another point of failiure with respect to importing the cached actions you performed during downtime?

Well, it is kind of nice to be able to check my eVe-mail without logging into eVe proper...and making fun of my corpmates exploits that they post.

I do appreciate the fact its plugged in to the API/DB back end but while that has the potential to access the sub zero section on the cool wall, for now, given its only useful for comms, it sadly makes it considerably less useful in general. Until they put a mutable version of the skill queue on there and the *full* set of character details as per the game 'info' function I am at a loss to determine why they have bothered. No offence to them of course. Presumably it will have something to do with Dust or Incarna .. ? Otherwise where is the Cost Benefit?

This is bull****, and you know it, judging from previous posts you made on which I assume you have enough knowledge on computers to realise that this is just pushing a few DB transactions over once the server get's back on. Nothing rocket science there.
If the DB can't handle that, I wonder which monkey coded it.
And yeah, the filtering of links is a good pointer that primates where at the helm when decisions had to be made. Half of the time the eve-mail just links to a forum topic on an external forum. So at LEAST give us an option to add 'trusted' sites ourselves to circumvent this rather remarkable design feature. ========================== Nothing is true, everything is permitted. ========================== |

I was thinking more along the lines that there would have to be shadow tables at the very least, and I think that the merging of data could be problematic. Tranquility has some ridiulous number of transactions per second, so at what point would you merge? There is the potential for latency and/or failiure if you did it at say, start and end of downtime.
There are a number of operations that are performed during downtime, and I suspect that all the Eve Gate data is involved in some, albeit insignificant, fashion. So shadow tables may somehow become incompatiable with the cleansed TQ data. There is also the notion that MSSQL is not really up to scratch. Just take the fairly frequent issues we experience.
I think that the idea of Eve Gate being able to be used during downtime is a nice idea, but perhaps impractical.
I suppose I agree that more functionallity could and should be added to the web interface. I recall that they were reluctant to add a skill queue because they wanted people to "actually log into the game", but I don't see why now, especially as they removed ghost training. If somebody is changing a skill, then they're subscribed anyway. Money seems to be the overiding strategy in CCPs development of late, so it would suprise me if they had the same idea. It would be the players that would find a reason to object to that.

Having never read your forums, I wouldn't know whether they are malicious, or not. Actually nor do I care.
If it upsets you so much then I suggest for your own mental health that you quit this game. Oh and your stuff to me please.

Evegate is so much faster than ingame mail that you can literally load up a browser, go login, and check your evemail before it would have loaded ingame.

As a professional in the IT industry. When one decides to fix a program with REGEX, they inevitably dig the hole deeper and deeper. It's like watching a newbie try to use bison or yacc, the lulz to be had are substantial!
z0mG does this regex api support extended regex? If not, then oh muh gosh what do I do!? Lets scrap the whole idea and try to write this part in PERL, I think I know perl! I can use perl'ex instead of that crappy C api to regex (regcomp(3) and regexec(3))!
First thing they ask, "how do I negate a pattern match? I want everything but...". I've seen this millions of times, "use regex for form validation!". Three days pass, and they are still fighting the regex pattern... watching these guys ponder the philosophical question of "what IS a email address?", oh man it's pure comedy.
