Last nights fight was a lot less laggier and really enjoyable, this one got better as the battle went on, I would assume something to do with the game caching ship types etc?
Anyway, 2 questions:
1 - when will the collision code be fixed (again)?
2 - when will the amazingly CONVENIENT bug of logging in and your ship being warped to the nearest GATE, rather than where you logged off, be fixed?
Other than that, great fight, 60 in gang and 160 in local, loads of fun

Lots of players together in any one zone in *ANY* MMORPG translates to major lag. It's a constant. Quit your whining.

Most MMORPGs dont go out of their way to encourage mass player gatherings. EVE has been making changes for over a year that strongly encourage blob warfare. -------------------------------------------- CONCORD: Kneecapping Pilots for Misdemeanors Since 2003 |

Man when a BoB warps out i saw like 50torps in space everytime going to waste and thats alot of dmg. When BoB have many turret ships that will hit once they shot (if they hit). Torps at 100km = is it even worth it to see a torp fly that far and just before impact the main target flys of and weee nice fireworks that wont explode. And all bob have to do is warp out, good tactic tho. And yes this is an alt, she is sexy thats why i use her harr harr :-P

Edited by: Zen Later on 20/12/2004 04:12:24 Lag was REALLY bad for me on Sat's fight. Got completely stuck a few systems away jumping through a gate. Several hours later I was able to log in successfully.
Today's fight was REALLY bad for a while. Couldn't even target anything for almost the first half hour. After the vast majority of you know who's frigs were wiped out it settled down quite a bit on my end. Still pretty laggy though.
It has improved a bit as the last time I was in a fight with that many in a single system (and EVOL was involved then as well ) it was probably the worst gaming experience I've ever had in this game. But it's pretty obvious the game still needs a whole heap of work in the fleet battle department.
Not even gonna bother with the flame bait...too much respect for many of "the enemy" for that.

I looked over Lianhaun's shoulder when the battle was going on and I must day, it was far less laggy then it used to be (and then I had expected).
Where it used to take 5-10 minutes to load the scene, it took perhaps one or two minutes. Module lag and menu lag was also minimal (relative to the conditions) with about 3-5 seconds delay per menu.

Frankly I'm amazed that you could have 60 players in the same spot in the first place - its very laggy in that environment even in FPSes, let alone a MMORPG with far more stats to track!

Eve crashed when we jumped in and after 5-6 attempts to log back in, I found myself sitting near the gate.
After about 6 minutes not showing anything, no ships, no chat windows etc(surprising I didn't die) I clicked on a planet to warp to... crashed again...
Finaly I warped again to the gate, after about 3 minutes the screen loaded... fps's were not so bad but the module activation delay was about 20 seconds for me and even upto a minute
Then my ISP went poof only to get back online 3 hours later
Kinda weird there are several mixed reports about the lag... I wish I had just 3-4 secs activation delay myself like lianhaun
I'm sad to say that until ccp finds a way to dynamicaly allocate resources we'll never enjoy the game as we like

In all fairness, she was using my pc. The activation delay was going from the time it took to lock -> fire ('bout 1 FPS, but menus were nice and responsive)
She'll prolly disagree with me, tho.

Lag in such situations is always gonna be a prob, though CCP I think could be far more inventive on how they handle such events, and how they make the cluster work for them in draftin in extra resources for such high activety grids.

and the gms wonder why people like me arent too keen in wonting too join these big alliance fights. that we rather have the old war system back where i can find smaller battles on my own too fight.
i think this guy just said it all about your big alliance wars in spaids. push that 00 allaiance crap on us when you can deal with the numbers in one system for it. then come back and tell us how great it is too be in fleet battles when you can do it..

There has been noticable improvement for sure but it still needs work.
I like one of the suggestions from the BoB side (think it was one of the BoB folks if I remember correctly) in the after-math for a battle server. But having played on sharded servers it just doesn't feed the same kind of inter-game dynamics. It normally ends up being a us against them/them against us boring scenario .
