I had just got enough money to buy my second ship, who was the cheapest amarr ship i found, after the starter ship. And exiting royal amarr institute, i found a guy outside, what id in other mmo games, would call newbie ganker. I saw something beside the ship, and a container, he simply fired at anything exiting the station. Is that common in eve? I had no problem at all getting away, so i was in no danger.

if u stick to >0.4 then no one can touch u unless its during a corp war
if its 0.1-0.4 they could gank u but this usually happens at gates rather than stations
in 0.0 its free for all
Its not that common thou as tanking sentries in 0.1-0.4 isnt all that easy, and its easy to get past them.

no worries, mate. it's so uncommon as to raise eyebrows while inquiring minds want to know who'd be so suicidal.

I too really wondered, because it looked like the amarr starter ship, or simmililar, and had blown at least an ship to pieces, if that leaves debris/wreckage. I thought that area had security?? If eve have PvP titles, or kill count, it may be a title farmer, or he may have collected veldspar of the newbies coming inn. Since my new ship had the best armor i could afford/had skill to, id blown him apart, if i didnt hit autopilot, his weapons wasnt that impressive.

Keep in mind that you can't start aggression while in secure space (0.4 and above) without Concord coming around and blowing up your ship.
Let him attack you. In 1.0 space, he'll be blown up by Concord and local sentry guns before you take too much damage.

just a twit .. there is nothing to be gained from shooting noobs in a 1.0 system, just a poor demented child, who likely giggles the whole time, thinking "what fun", because the rest of the game is too copmplex for them to undertstand. -

He might have been attacking war targets that were at the station. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

That's a good point. If two player corps (or alliances) are at war with each other, their members can attack one another without Concord response no matter what the security of the system is.
They have to watch themselves, though. If they accidentally shoot a non-combatant (such as you), Concord will blow them up.
