Let me start off by saying I am a miner. Navigation skills have not been on the top of my priority list. I am currently in a hulk with cargo expanders and soon to be cargohold optimization rigs. My question is what skills can I train to improve the Hulk's speed? I know I can not equip an afterburner. I am currently woirking to get Navigation to at least 4 and maybe to 5. I am also working on getting Evasive Maneuvering to 4 maybe 5. Are there other skills that would help with my speed in a belt or with my truning/preparing to warp speed? Thanks in advance.

I believe the main skills for base ship skill are mostly centered around agility. Navigation gives you base speed but Evasive Maneuvering, Spaceship Command, and Advanced Spaceship Command will add to the ship agility which will greatly improve your alignment time.

Remmember that Advanced spaceship command ONLY applies to ships that require it to fly, namely capital ships (not the Orca though), so it would be silly to buy and train it unless you plan on flying a Rorqual or carrier/dread/titan/Freighter in the future.

I find the Hulk too fast actually, so I'm guessing that you are not marking belts with a faster ship (even a shuttle can easily be packaged and carried in a Hulk, and then dropped at a station while mining) so you can warp directly to the belt, and/or not moving constantly while mining.
I find I can set a reduced speed (depends on your mining skills and any mining bonuses), and cruise at a near constant speed while I mine.
Accelerating and turning (which is actually acclerating in a different direction) are covered by agility skills as noted above.

In addition remember that there are implants to help with agility and speed. Check the market for the various Rogue implants.. AY-1 and CY-1 come to mind.

Maybe you dont fit an AB or MWD on your Hulk, but acceleration control should be mentioned for good orders sake I think.

Quote: Skill at efficiently using Afterburners and MicroWarpdrives. 5% Bonus to Afterburner and MicroWarpdrive speed boost per skill level.
This skill is useless unless you actually use an AB or MWD.

If your ship has rigs that slow it down as a side effect, train the rigging skill to reduce the side effects.
