hi i didnt know where to post this but i just had a question regarding salvaging and ships/fits
so pretty much im tryna scan down ships in level 4s or something and come in and clean up wrecks but i need an agile ship that can fit the expanded probe launcher and a few slots for salvagers obviously and possibly 1 or 2 tractor beams to speed stuff up.
anyone got a suggestion for a fast and agile ship that can fit the exp probe launcher and multiple salvagers/tractor beams? |

anyone got a suggestion for a fast and agile ship that can fit the exp probe launcher and multiple salvagers/tractor beams? Tractors are useless, you cannot tractor wrecks someone else owns. |

I use a probe to find the site then go switch to a rifter with four salvagers, a mwd and a medium shield extender and some cargo expanders to do the ninja work. It salvages pretty fast and it gets on top of a noctis quickly if they decide to tractor in and salvage a bunch of wrecks at once.
It's easier and more profitible, imo, to get both a dedicated scanner and ninja boat near a mission hub and just switch them out as you see fit, versus trying to salvage with a scanner ship that only has one or two salvagers.
You can also bookmark wrecks/cans in the rooms to go back to even if they close the mission . |

As pointed out, you can't tractor other people's wrecks, so something with a couple of salvagers and an mwd will be what you need, like a frigate or destroyer so you can move across the mission room quickly to the wrecks. One of the probing frigates should do the job, they usually have a reasonable cargo size, give bonuses to probing and are pretty fast and agile. You could try a Stabber if you want a cruiser. Now you can use MWD's in Missions. |

Minmatar Vigil. The "go-to" ship for ninja salvagers, because it's so stupidly fast, even with a salvage-tackle rig and just a 'burner ( ca. 1.6km/s with good skills and Minni Frigate to 5), and quite agile.
It has enough CPU for the prober, but you should use the T1 scanning frig (very imaginatively named "Probe" if Minni) to probe for its bonus--unbonussed probing is generally kinda fail, even with high skills and/or implants.
You can't tractor other people's wrecks, so don't bother fitting a tractor-beam.
This is what I used when I started Tarryn out as a ninja-salvager:
Vigil, "I Can Haz?"
HI:
3x Salvager I, going to Salvager IIs once I got Salvaging to level 5 (big difference)
MID:
1MN Afterburner II Small Shield Extender II Target-painter (to ***** sec-status off the MR's rats) or Ship-scanner (to check his fit if you wanna "social-engineer" the MR into some pew-pew)
LO:
Damage Control II 2x Nanofibre Internal Structure II
Rig:
1 Small Salvage Tackle I
Drone:
Warrior II
The tank-mods did save the ship on several occasions when the MR warped out to leave me to the rats after popping a spawn-trigger, but remember to insure the ship and have a replacement or two ready, as you will get it urp-sploded on occasion.
Again, use the T-1 scan frig of your race for the probing--all you really need on it are the prober and 2 small (they're cheap) Gravity Capacitor I rigs, and maybe a cloak, just make a safespot to probe from, so people don't see you probing/don't glom on to you being there--they'll know soon enough anyway, but "no free intel" is a thing in EVE.
Join channel "Ninja Dojo" in-game as well, lots of other ninja salvagers to talk to/learn from there, last I was on it. In irae, veritas. |

thanks for the feed back guys!
that sucks you cant tractor beam other wrecks thats ******** -________-
yea i was thinking that might be a better option to have something like a probe or heron for the scanning and then something like a rifter or thrasher (maybe a thrasher for more slots) to put salvagers and MWD on.
anyways ya ill hop on it when i get back home from work....(at this point, "IF" i get back home from work lol uuuggggghhhhh only 3pm xD) |

You can't tractor other wrecks because the loot belongs to them. However if you're more interested in turning in a profit rather than annoying people, you could ask them to abandon the wrecks for you if they aren't going to do anything with them anyway.
If you are more insterested in annoying people and farming tears, however, just grab a thrasher and go kill retrievers.
Ninja salvaging is just a waste of time imo. The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die. |

Last I checked there is a "Free wrecks" channel and I see a lot of lvl 4 runners go looking for a salvager - often giving it all away for lack of time - and no answer.
Proof of asshattery that anybody giving away a lvl 4 mission loot pile goes unanswered.

That and a pile of salvage + loot from a good mission such as Angel Extravaganza, Mordus Headhunters and such only takes 10 minutes to clear in a noctis and turns in from 20 to 30 mil. That is null-sec ratting profit right there, for free. The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die. |

This is what I used to do.
Go to a mission hub.
Use your heron to probe down Tengus, Ravens, Navy Ravens. Don't bother with Mauraders like Golems, they are usually built to salvage as they mission. You want people running level 4 missions ONLY.
Keep track of the sigs, ship type, and pilot name.
Start following these mission runners to see which salvage and which do not. Those who do not, add them to your contacts.
Now, when you logon to salvage, look for those mission runners who don't salvage. Probe them down by their sig, warp to site, follow them room to room and bookmark wrecks.
When they are done the mission, come in behind them and clean it all up (loot and salvage) in a dedicated salvage destroyer (I prefer catalyst).
If you can track down enough good mission runners around a hub, you can easily make 40 million isk an hour as a ninja salvager, and you can do it with about 2 weeks of skill training. You will constantly have sites to salvage. Sometimes I would dual box salvage when things were particularly rich.
Reinvest your early earnings in better scanner gear and some implants to help with scanning.

I would look mainly for very high dps ships such as nightmares, machariels and the such. People running missions in those rarely salvage anyway. They soon find out that their time is better spent just going from mission to mission as fast as possible while farming LP.

This is TRUE ninja salvaging and I used to do this. Sometimes they do come back though, and you gotta keep your eye out.
