Dropping several pings in sequence... makes for quick, often, disconnects but otherwise fairly lag free... Posting partial traceroute via pingplotter...

Quote: Update #1: The issue source has been identified as Global Crossing. It appears to have resolved itself, however, our engineers have contacted them to be sure. We will continue to monitor the situation.

Same problem from Brazil, too... Major Global Crossing backbone failure, routing is fine until it enters GCrossing backbones... Suggestion to CCP: Autonomous System? Redundant backbones in a On demand based contract? GCrossing will not improve, and that is a fact known by IT/Telecom market... no connection, no clients.
Godspeed on fixing it !

You guys are lucky it didn't happen to you in a wormhole. It took me 45 minutes of trying before I was able to jump back in to my home wormhole and get possed up.

The player's ISP is not the issue. It's an issue with CCP's network provider/ISP/whatever the proper term would be.
It's interesting how it's not affecting everyone though. I wish I was a network engineer so I knew why (or one of our resident NEs would explain it...) ___

Me too, I kept getting 'socket closed' and the forums wouldn't load.

Well you guys can't really get mad at CCP for this one.
Anyone who's been asked to do a pingplotter, or does traceroutes on their own should be able to tell that the disconnects appear to be because of Global Crossings. It's their equipment that's just dropping packets left and right for no reason.
Had a 10 minute window in pingplotter where all I saw was Red. :/
