Edited by: Joe Phoenix on 27/07/2010 23:37:43 Hi there.
I've come here today to look for gmod animators (no duh) to help produce a feature length movie with our alliance(think clear skies but ten times better). We have started creating all of the sets/props etc but we are having a problem with the charector animation. We have a fue people who can animate to a good level of quality (no noobs with a phys-gun kinda thing) but at the rate we're going right now we will be finished in 2089.
If you are interested in helping us out please contact me. you'll get your name in the credits of what it hopefully going to be a very big movie.
these are a couple of picture take on set (the bridge of a rokh battleship).

Hope you decide to help.

Looks like it was made straight in the editor instead of planning and sketching it out first.
As it stands, Source is not the best engine for this kind of thing, and as good as Clear Skies was, it's interiors were still rather clunky. You have to do a lot of planning before you even open the editor to make a good map in Source.
I strongly suggest that you do this before continuing with the build you have now, because you will regret it once the time comes to actually record footage. If you want to beat Clear Skies, "good enough" is not good enough.
Pleaase mind that i'm not saying this to be an ass, but if you want it to be good you really can't be satisfied with 'satisfactory'.

So you want a bunch of people to help you make a recruitment trailer for your alliance?
How much REAL money are you willing to pay?

This x100000000.
Assuming you aren't just trolling* and are actually delusional enough to think that you have a valid project, let me explain something to you:
Anyone who has the skills to do what you need has more than enough work already.
If you want to get a skilled animator, you need to do one of two things:
1) Convince them that your project is so amazing that they really want to be part of it. For example, if the guy who made Clear Skies asked for some help, he'd probably get it. You, on the other hand, haven't even come close to doing this. All you have is a couple screenshots that look like the result of giving a 10 year old about 5 minutes with a map editor (IOW, like complete ****), and a vague promise that your project will somehow be far better than Clear Skies. In other words, you've done nothing to show that you are any different than any of the countless other people who get a "good" idea and come to a forum begging for help from the people who actually know what they're doing (probably because you are one of them).
And guess what: we don't help them. 99.9999% of their projects will be dead within six months, and the few that survive will turn out to be complete garbage. Show up with some impressive progress and a credible plan for finishing it, or you'll just be ignored like all the rest.
2) Get our your wallet. We don't care how much of a laughable failure your project is if you're paying well enough. Like it or not, that's the only way you're going to get expert help if you can't meet the standards in option #1.
PS: when I say "pay", I mean "cash up front", not "I promise I'll pay you once you do all the work for me".
*On a side note, any bets on whether Joe has been nothing but a troll the whole time and is finally dropping all pretense of being anything else vs. Joe sold his character to someone who wanted to buy the ultimate troll character? -----------

This firstly.
If you really want anyone to help you, you have to prove that you've at least got some of the puzzle figured out. As it stands, I absolutely guarentee you that nobody with the skillset you're looking for, or even aspiring towards will be very interested in any way with your project after looking at what you've presented so far.
Maybe if you nail the level design, you might get somewhere. ATM however Merin is right, what you have so far could have been thrown together in 5 minutes by a 10-year old.
For comparison, some screenies from my first ever Source map which was pretty rubbish.
So get working on ya Rokh

Fixed your post.
You aren't really helping your case with this kind of attitude. If you actually want help and aren't just a troll*, then you need to start by showing what YOU are going to do. His comment was just a polite way of saying "what you have now is pathetic, are you going to do more or is this the best you can do?", you should take it that way and then prove him wrong.
*I know there's a good chance that Joe is really just a troll, but I've seen plenty of people begging for help with posts that are just as bad as this one, and meaning it 100% seriously. -----------

Want to know something more fun?
I can honestly say i can whip up that same "structure" in Duke Nukem 3D in about 5 minutes.
But that's more a testament of how basic Source's bsp is than how good Duke3D is.
That said, Duke3D is still the only game ever made which can render actual portals.

Think I'll wait for the next clear skies rather. The two linked examples are so utterly basic and uninspired (no offense) that i doubt high quality animators will come to your aid.
If you are going to post examples, at least wait until you've got something proper. ---------------

I loved editing in Duke3D, was lots of fun and you could make huge, detailed maps really quickly with all kinds of triggers and events and the like. Still I miss the Doom editor more, back in the days when level design was fun, even for lil' 10 year old me.
In comparison, Hammer is a b*tch to use and I hated it.

Hehe, headcrap.
While your bridge design is slightly more detailed then the bridge of Clear Skies, it's still just an outline. So you may want to give people a more complete view for them to base their judgements on.

You'll need to pay half-life to understand that referance. We don't want to give away to much since it might kind of spoil it (alot of work has already gone into it).

Translation: we* can't show more, because no work at all has gone into it beyond the 15 minutes or so you see in those pictures, and posting anything else would make this fact obvious enough that even a fraud like you couldn't believe your own lies.
PS: if anyone is actually stupid enough to believe your excuse that showing a more detailed bridge would somehow "spoil" anything, it's a safe bet they're not smart enough to have the animation talent that you so desperately need.

I'm really excited and bet Joe has made incredible progress.
This is set to be "Independence Day" meets "The Matrix" meets "Lord of the Rings" meets Rob Schneider's "The Animal" meets Pixar's "Up" meets "Clear Skies".
I don't know how some of you can't see the blatant genius provided in those deck shots (yes it's rough but like Joe said, they shouldn't give away too much).
Joe, I decided I think I'd like to help. Now I know nothing in the way of animation BUT! I think I would be valuable in the area of story line writing. Here is an example of my literary skills
