I've been debating going into WHs to see what all the hub-bub is about. I can fly everything upto mauraders but I'm not willing to risk 600M isk on something I haven't done yet. A Deimos or even a command ship isn't too big of a hit for me financially so long as I don't lose it on the first run. My question is this: Is a Deimos worth it? And should i start training for T3? And if the Deimos is worthy then how far? c2? c3?
I fly solo and would like to keep 1 profession module on (codebreaker maybe) so that will be a drawback. Currently my Deimos is fully t2 fitted with t2 ammo. I'm at work so I don't have the exact fit but something like:
5x Ion IIs with Null 1x Core scanner
1x Codebreaker 1x Web II 1x AB/MWD II (not sure which)
2x EANM IIs 3x Mag Stab IIs 1x Med Rep II
2x scanning rigs (can be swapped but has helped scan down some hard to find 4/10s in empire)

This will die a fiery death in anything above C1. If you can fly Gallente only, try a myrmidon in a C1/C2, just keep tabs on your drones.
Also, to make any sort of decent money you will want a salvager.

There is no such thing as a properly fitted Deimos.

No kidding? I'm old school (started on launch in 2003) and the deimos was the bee's knees back in the day. I remember roaming with my old corp and people were in awe of the Gal HACs.
Is this mainly because of the blasters? Or is the Deimos just that bad of a ship?
What would be a good ship to take into WH for C1-C3? T2 fitted Drake? Cane? I can fly all t2 ships (all races) except most t2 BS.

the above fit is fine for C1/ C2 sites it will get a little harry but i have done all c1 and c2 sites in a Phobos, Deimos hits harder and tanks the same so i cant see an issue in any site... watch armor and dont plate.
Contact me ingame for any questions my fit is simular to the one posted above... just makes sure you can run your repper 100% of the time and pulse your mwd.

I'd just about leave the codebreaker behind from what I've seen in C1/2's. TBH, hi-sec hacking has made me more money than C1/2 hacking. A salvager, OTOH, can be a thing of beauty, if you get lucky, but you're dropping a gun to do it.

Deimos? Seriously?
Passive shield tanked ishtar + sentry drones is the way to go for a gallente HAC + wh's. They can quite successfully do class 2 sites, and I have even brought one into a class 3 which had bonuses to shields, and it worked wonders.
Honestly, don't worry about the sleepers shooting your drones. The second you see the sleepers switch targets, you hit recall (hoping you have a shortcut for it) and your sentries will just come straight back in your bay, providing you haven't strayed away from them Sleeper battleships don't have enough alpha to take out even the shields of a sentry drone (providing you have drone durability to a decent level) so if you pay attention, you'll be fine. tbh I've ran sites where my sentries were never targeted by the sleepers, people just tend to get their panties in a knot when you mention taking a drone boat into a wormhole
My fit was something like this:
Probe Launcher Cloak [free high slots, maybe drone link aug?]
Large Shield Extender II x2 Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II Invulnerability Field II Republic Fleet Afterburner I
Beta Reactor Control: Capacitor Power Relay x5 (lower CPU req. than the t2 variant, and isn't any worse performance-wise)
Core Defence Field Purger I x2
Garde II x5 Curator II x5 Hammerhead II x5 - maybe swap for vespa ec-600 in case you get jumped Hobgoblin II x5 ____

Just curious, how do you deal with the frigs? You first kill the battleships with sentries and then wipe out the frigs with light drones?

It really depends on the trigger of the particular anomaly. If a BS is the trigger, I hit the cruisers with sentries, then frigs with light drones, and then the BS. If frigs are the trigger, hit them last; if cruisers are the trigger, hit frigs first. Light drones make very short work of sleeper frigates, but they have much less HP than your sentries, and can pop quite fast if all of the frigates suddenly switch aggro to them.
I've found that it is a good tactic to wait for the sleeper frigates to get real close to you, so in the case that your drones do get aggro, they can return to your bay very fast. The sleeper frigs will also web your drones if they get aggressed, so having them far away from you is basically drone suicide ____

If thats the case then why not fly a Domi then? I've gotten my Domi setup to where I've aggroed huge rooms in lvl 4s and still kept above 80% armor.
What about command ships? With them being heavy NOS/Neut I would suspect lasers can be an issue.
I just ask because I've never stepped into one so I'm curious as to what I'd be getting into.

An ishtar can pull off a much better omni tank than a dominix, hands down, with comparable DPS and versatility. Level 4s are better run in a domi because you only have to deal with max 2 different dmg types. However, sleepers deal equal amounts of every damage type, and it's not very easy to get good resistances against everything in a domi, whereas it is much easier in an ishtar because of its naturally high base resistances.
Originally by: Aldor What about command ships?
With the gallente command ships being as fail as they are, the only CS I would recommend is the Nighthawk, and even then a Tengu would outperform one of those.

I have been in all 6 classes of wormholes, and have never seen a sleeper use a nos/neutralizer. Laser ships are fine in wormholes cap wise, and i've heard good things about the Legion, but it's nothing compared to the Tengu if we're talking t3's. Taking a proteus into a wormhole is almost as fail as taking a deimos ____

While Tengus are the C2/3 ship of choice, your comment about the Proteus is pure tosh. A buffer Proteus can put out 900+ dps and clear a c2 site in minutes. It has enough monster tank to do that 3 or 4 times over before even hitting 50% armour. I've done it. The only drawback is having to get back and repair. While I'm doing that, my alt is salvaging. It works. Each to their own. @ the OP - Frankly I wouldn't use a Deimos. You'd need the MWD because sleeper spawns can be 60-80km apart and you will just run out of cap constantly. A Domi wont fit into a C1 from hisec (no BS allowed) so go with a BC. My advice is to start with a Myrm/Drake fully insured and just get the feel of sleeper sites. Don't bother with analayszers or codebreakers. The salvaging module will earn you the real isk in the form of "melted nanoribbons" which are worth 5 mill per. These are (strangely) mostly found in C1 sites, and the rate of anything between 0-20 per site. You WILL lose a few boats to wspace PvPers. Reduce that by scanning from quiet hisec systems and spam d-scan while you are in there.

In that case I should fly my clone in there. I've got about 800M-1B in implants I'd rather not lose. Thanks for the tips everyone. I just wasn't sure what to expect from the sleepers. Pvp I don't mind, I've lived in null sec for a few years. Prolly the biggest adjustment I'll have to make is not to rely on local since it doesn't update. I think I'll fit up a drake and take that in. Would you recommend I lose 2 turrets for the beam/salv? Or just lose 1 to a salv and fly can to can?

IN terms of command ships, I would suggest the slepnir due to the massive active tank. IN terms of t3 ships... I recently saw a loki fit that has over 700 dps passive tank. The fit has room for one utility high, but I would suggest sacrificing a gun and getting the second utility slot for a salvager and a prober.

Gallente HACs used to be nice. The problem is, CCP gave lasers a ridiculous boost from all angles like tracking, reducing EM resistance of everyone elses armor, give some of their ships more turrets, its ******ed.
Meanwhile blasters were never compensated due to these changes, and it also seems that blasters don't do well against the newer content (like sleeper rats) when compared to how much damage they can lay onto a gallente ship. The Amarr HACs were always able to tank well, and now they have more DPS than Gallente HACs, blasters are supposed to do enormous damage to offset the lack of tank, but while the game evolved, this race was fixed, that race got a buff... they never changed blasters to stay in line with story board design.
So, as a result of CCP always overlooking Gallente with every "fix" or "buff". Gallente ships aren't so great anymore, and they certainly don't do flip for DPS.
CCP should do to blasters what they did to lasers. Reduce everyone's thermal and kinetic base resistances by 20%; except for T2/T3 Gallente ships. Boost the falloff range of all blasters by 90% giving the mid-range range, or make all blaster boats as agile as minmatar vessels. Give blaster boats an additional turret slot with additional CPU and powergrid. Boost the tracking of all blasters too.
That's what they did for lasers and Amarr...

If you're not using a salvaging alt, then yes I'd say fit a tractor/salv in the highs for the all-important cans. Its really up to you; your dps will pretty much suck in a Drake anyway. But the quicker you can get in/pew/loot/GTFO the better. If you fit an MWD and pulse it, you can drop the tractor for a probe (recommended) or more DPS. Or a cloak ;)
Gluck.
