The plague of Eve: System Denial...
When people not playing can prevent dozens from playing all day long.
*** Please leave construtive comments and leave a simple "Signed" if you agree to a system of this sort. Forum trolls.. 3= "Now you can lick it, you can sip it, you can taste it" ***
System Denial is a broken mechanic that plague Eve. How come somebody not playing the game can prevent whole group of players to play?
I played Eve for many years now. And "need for speed" sure did increase the fun factor for PVP in Eve. But nothing was done to address System Denial for PVE and industry.
The idea I propose is the following: A mechanic "Submarine sonar style":
Shield Emitter Polarization. Following an Exponential curve, the longer you stay cloak the more your shield emitters "polarize" and the longer it will take to remove that penality. What does that pemality does? It mkaes your ship easyer to find.
Ok it polarize the shields of your ship's shields... so what now? Well if your cloak emitter resonnate with your shield... It could be possible to use your own cloaking device to feed an energy impulse into your own shields resulting in a system wide EMP. The produced EMP cannot uncloak cloaked ships, BUT the EMP make polarized shield resonnate. Kinda like a submarine sonar. Using a special type of probe laucher and special probe that could detect that ping, it could be possible to triangulate the position of the cloaked ship.
Ok so polarization build up? Well your shield are naturally balanced. But when cloacked, you emmiter build up with certain particles following an exponential curve.
IE after 30min cloacked, it will take you a full 45min uncloacked to depolarize your shield emitters. And at that polarization percentage, let's say 30% polarization, your shield ressonate with a ping that has the signature radius of 50% your ship natural signature.
Stay cloacked longer, let's say for 45 minutes your shield polarisation will be of 60% wich in return provide a ping of 100% your ship signature radius.
Stay cloacked 90 minutes... well your polarization is meeting an asymptote getting close to 99.99% and you pinged signature radius is 300%. making a frigate as easy to find as a BC. And will take you 2 full hours uncloaked to remove the "polarization" penality.
Add to this mechanic a module similar to the GM uncloaking device (15km radius + 10% per skill level) and there you got a nice balanced system after minimal tweaks.
Throw in a penality to the probing ship to also prevent abuses like: Damaging your own high rack with thermal damage on each impulse.
And there you have it, a mechnic that does not nerf cloaks but give the finger to people who abuse cloaking.
*** Next step... how to get rid of macros? PI, could be nicer if you didn't have to do 3 click per harvester x 10 harvester per planet x 5 planet per toon... 3x5x10 omfg 150 clicks per day per toon!!!

I dont understand Mahtie, you have written that huge wall of whatever because someone not activly able to control their ship has scared dozens of you and your friends so much that you sit in your stations????
Seriously?
My constructive comment: maybe you should 'grow a pair'.

Chronic system denial is a problem. Not everybody play the game teh same way, PVP is one side of it which many don't have time for. PVE and industry suffer from this. A hauler a miner or even a ratting ship can easely get ganked by a ball of Stealth bomber only needing a couple of cyno alts camping all day.
Explain to me how not playing the game can be a gameplay?
I would like to make it a profession of killing cloakers. No mattre if they are in Empire, low sec or 0.0, cloakers are overpowered and easy to abuse. ****************************************** [i]I propose Evelgrivion as 2010 CSM Member. It doesn't sound like nullsec is the place for you. Sorry.

the problem is in your head my friend. dont rat solo. done mine solo. dont haul solo. *especially* in 0.0. and your chance of survival goes up nicely. I mean you are in a 5000 men alliance it should be possible for you to get ratting gangs working. or protection for your miners. scouts for your haulers.
0.0 is the place where team play counts most, and lonewolfs often die.
If that all is a problem for you, el sabor might be correct.

So many forum trolls.
how lame is it when you can't bring anything constructive to a discussion.
You're confusing trolls with people who just disagree with you.
Also, deleting your post just isn't classy.
