Our CEO has vanished with no explanation.
I've read various sources saying that we have to wait 6 months before we can petition it, but that seems a bit extreme.
Are there any other options?

You could read the wiki about it

Reform the corp is pretty much the only option I think. It doesn't sound like you have majority shares to vote the CEO out.

Maybe you should read it as well. It says nothing about a specific time period needed to begin petitioning to replace the CEO.
Also, the CEO owns all the shares, so that isn't an option.

CCP will NOT replace the CEO. The only option is to vote him out, or form a new corp if he has all the shares.
I don't recall anywhere in your OP about him having all the shares so how the hell are we supposed to read your mind?
edit: As far as a time period, he can be online and you can vote him out.

You're awfully rude.
And CCP WILL remove a CEO. I was just wanting to know if there was a definitive time period.

Well don't expect me or anyone else to know something you don't tell us.

Just because someone said it that wasn't a GM means it's true.
People have also said that learning skills are being removed, T2 BPOs are being removed, and EVE is dieing.
Doesn't mean it's true.

If you have members with the director role you can create a vote and vote your current CEO out or create more shares.

Edited by: Tarac Nor on 31/07/2010 04:06:19 You need 5% of the shares to run for CEO, if you don't have that then you really cant do much even as a director.
You can make votes to create more shares but you need the CEO to approve the actual creations under sanctioned actions in the corporation tab if the vote passes.

he has a point tho
what he helped me think of tho was, how bout u petition to ask what the protocol is for this sorta of thing (provided that the CEO has FULL power i.e. none of the other suggestions in this thread will work, cause unless u specifiy that u are stuck, the GM will tell u what the ppl in this thread did)

Really odd as it is so easy to disband entire alliances, but for this you need to jump to hoops and loops and even then hit a road block in the end. Could it be that alliances et such is another disbanded feature by CCP with a 'we'll get back to it one day' quote attached to it?

Well i cant actually disband without the CEO position, but i can kick corps as a Director, the CEO would come back and accept the corps straight back in.

Having witnessed the occurance....CCP WILL remove an AWOL CEO.
I would post the response petition but I believe that is against forum rules.
It can be done. They have a criteria. In this case the CEO was gone for well over six months. The original CEO/creator of the corp, petitioned to be installed as the new CEO. CCP required he leave his current corp (duh, game mechanics and all) and was subsequently granted the position.

Create a new Corp. If there are assets of the Corp, Tate them with you or loose em.
