April Rose	Posted - 2010.08.01 11:15:00 - [1] Looking for a simple fit with tech 1 guns that I can aim to train to. I was an amarr pilot that moved from sansha space to gurista space and need to cross train or I will go broke from pvp. Thanks in advance for any advice or input. :]

Go workout what that extra Gyro gives you and what the dropping it for a DCII does then you can answer your own question... Maybe download a copy of Eve Fitting Tool ?

Only use Gyrostabs if you enjoy making money. The third Gyro will help you complete the mission faster where the DC will not. If you feel like you'll lose the ship however, use a DC until you feel comfortable and then switch back to the Gyro as soon as you can.

Honestly; if you get only 3700 volley from your Mael you're doing something really really wrong. My fit below does almost 12 000 dps and has way better tank & spank than your crap fit can ever have. I'll post it here once I'm back home and You'll see the difference. As a note; why is that AB in there? it's almost useless in PVE ship.

Woudlnt you want only 1 heat dis field and 2 ballistic instead, since guristas only do 17 percent of their damage as thermal?

Sandrestal	Posted - 2010.08.02 16:43:00 - [16] Well my main runs a Mael in null sec with t2 1200's and 2 t2 gyros and gets around 1600 per volley in optimal. The over 3k volley the pilot listed with phased plasma is why I wondered. And yes all his support gunnery skills are at lvl 5.
Wayay Bonnylad	Posted - 2010.08.02 17:46:00 - [17] Whoa, whoa, whoa!! Why all the suggestions to go with 1200mm guns? I wonder if many have flown the Maelstrom very much in PVE, because any who have must have tried using 800mm autocannons at least once. And once tried you won't go back to 1200mm arties unless you are a miser and try to save ISK on ammo. A full rack of 800mm ACs with at least 2 x Tracking Enhancer IIs in the lows will comfortably hit out to 50km - use a Tracking Computer in the mids and falloff rigs if you want to extend the range, but there is no need. 800mm autocannons will hit out to double falloff with enough firepower to pop frigs and maul cruisers - that's a range of around 90km. If you do get a Maelstrom then make sure you get a decent set of 800mm autocannons, take them for a run out a couple of times then put the 1200mm guns back on the market and get your ISK back. ;)
