I'm doing l2 missions now, I hope to move on to l3 soon. It's not that I consider rogue drones challenging as much as annoying. Whats the most effective way to take them out without wasting a bunch of missiles? Certian guns? Smartbombs? Drones? What's everyone's suggestions?

The best way is missiles.
Smartbombs work but they also blowup the cans and use capacitor plus not all drones orbit you at smartbomb range.
Even with small guns and drones you have to web the little ones to kill them fast.
So....missiles for the win and now they're cheap-o  |

Huh, did they put that back in? They didn't damage cans last time I blew up a pack of rats with some smartbombs.

I web 'em, use my guns and send my own drones in (while tanking their damage). Just make sure the rogue's aggeo is targeted at you, or they'll try to kill your drones. |

I'm running a Ferox with 5 heavy missile launchers and 2 medium smartbombs (EM damage is best for deadspace).
The smartbombs take care of any drones that come in close enough to scramble you and the missiles everything else.
A Raven would be better but the principle of smartbombs for the swarm and missiles for the bigger stuff is working really well. Just be sure to turn the smartbombs off before launching your own drones!

I use medium pulse lasers, takes them down just fine, no web or tracking computer needed (although a tracking comp does help obviously  ). Thats tested on lvl 3 with a domi (6 lasers, no tracking comp) and a retribution (4 lasers and tracking comp). Drones work too, even heavies seem to be able to track the little buggers

 I was managing to hit some drones with my 1400mm Artillery at 14km in a recent mission I had.....of course this was because the Transverse speed was in the 20-30 range and I was chasing the drone.
It's also a good idea to bring along a RANGE of missile types. Some of the drones have better resistance than others against certain types of missiles.

I use a destroyer, rogue drones die faster than i can lock em lol
Amarr destroyer works really well, no need for web as lasers have good tracking.

Yeah you could be right here and me thinking I blew up some cans where infact the rat didn't drop anything

I run lvl 2 missions in my maller (overkill, i know)
for silence the informant and rescue the damsel i fit 2 med (1 em, 1 explosive) smarties. I aggro all the drones, turn on my armor reps, and ignite the smarties, less than 1 min later, they all gone and i just collect the nice concentrated min drops.
smaties do not damage npc cans, accelerator gates or roids. when running agent missions use them freely (except when near a jumpgate)
another, slower option is just web em 1 at a time.
I dont know what kind of damage drones do, but i suspect em/therm or therm/kin

Takes me longer than some (I still get the time reward), but I enjoy it.
These are just my views and they could be wrong.....often wrong if you listen to my wife. |

Unfortunately, the damage done varies by drone, so a typical pack does all types of damage. Check out the object explorer on eve-i.com if you want to know about each individual drone.
