I cant fly the taranis yet but i think t2 125mm would not be a terrible thing to fit ____________________________________________________

Originally by: Simms due to the risk of getting webbede, I changede my tatics,
high: 125 mm rails x3 1x small sb
Med: 1x 1 MN MVD T2 1x 20 Km scrambler 1x small cap battery t2
Low: 1x Aux powercore 2x cap relay
I now orbit the target at 10-12 km, going 2500 m/s, this way cruise cant hit. Leaves me only vounable to heavy nos and neutraliseres
I have used a similar set-up and no matter what anyone says its definatly not a waste, it does'nt have the thrills of blasters but the extra damage you can do from range makes up any extra damage you get by getting in close (against frigs anyway), main reason I used this set-up is I just did'nt really like getting smartbombed

on the test they have changed the webs... u can web up to (i actully think they changed it from 36km to 24km (thats optimal+falloff)) 24km i think. When i fly my crow this is PERFECT. But for my poor megathron and taranis they are stuck at a range where i can dream about hitting them with close range. When I fly a taranis with 125mm's a crow can still beat me, my ares also dies. The webs are toooooo anti-gallante on the test server. So does anyone have a tactic & setup that can beat a 24km webbing crow. ___________________________________ Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante |

you could probably fit a couple of 150mm's those'll hit to 24 easy, or jus tsome long range ammo

i used small nos 3ion t2 blasters
web, 7.5km scram, mwd (named)
t2 small repper 1 mag stab t2 m-aux
only thing was i lost 3 ranis and ive yet to kill with it. cant seem to hit anything using the same orbit turn off mwd etc tactics.
got bored with ranis now only so many times i can be ****** to goto freewheeling asking for a fully replaced ranis each time i lose it cus i cant hit for ****.
be nice to know why that happening.

You must be doing something awfully wrong then. Either you shouldnt fly this ship or you can learn a few tactics on corp mates while not wasting such a fine ship

jim stone has imo one of the best taranis setups you can get, if anything would be changed, i would switch 1 mod for 1 armorrep, especially if you are going to be doing stuff in 0.0where you cant dock at a station to repair, it is very handy. thenosf helps for cap and any inty cruiser or indy you fight will be dead before your cap is so there is no point in worrying about CPRs |

My Taranis setups commonly go like this:
2x 125mm Rail II's, 1x 125mm Prototype, 1x Named Nos 1x Catalyzed Cold-Gas Arcjet, 1x web, 1x scrambler 1x mag stab II, 1x MAPC, 1x SAR II

you can get fancy, and try stupid approach techniques or setups with dmg mods and micro aux but youre either giving the enemy time to web you or your cap will die - if you cant run it all forever youre useless tbh
Grin.
Nice, but NOT the king of the roost for inty vs inty combat. I rip them apart.

3x 150mm II Rails
1xGisti/MWD T2 1x Webber 1x Disruptor
2x cpr 1x micro aux
this works best i find....blasters are fun but smartbombs are not...throw some antimatter in them rails and sit back at 9km and laugh

3 ion blaster II's 1 small nos
1 mwd, preferably cata cold gas arcjet 1 webber, 85%+ 1 faint epsilon scrambler 7.5kms
1mapc 1 tech II hybrid dmg mods 1 small accom repair
3 warrior drones
Right well this pretty much works against any ceptor, tears thro them in seconds, just fly right in set ur drones and blast away really, taken down 2 ceptors 2v1 with that setup, the drones help if u get target jammed, the amrour repair helps ALOT and well the guns dmg are insane.
Pretty good all round really. Wouldn't setup my Taranis any other way, tho tbh i prefer the Ares

Light Ion Blaster II (3) EMPTY Hi Slot (1) 1MN MicroWarp Drive X5 Prototype Engine Enervator Faint Warp Prohibitor (7.5km) Magnetic Field Stabilizer II (2)
I have the damage mod at 9.2 and Small Blaster Specialization is only at IV. On multiple occasions the victems told me that they never actually saw the ship. It pretty much ends all if you know what you're doing.

Edited by: Serak Tur on 22/05/2005 04:39:49 Edited by: Serak Tur on 22/05/2005 04:37:17 I like to use:
2 T2 Ions, 1 T2 Electron (Plutonium helps with that tracking and orbital problem), 1 small nos
1 1mn mwd, 2 webbifiers (a little creativity and you don't need a scrambler).
1 power diag, 2 cap power relays
The T2 guns are pretty cheap and the extra dmg worth it imo.
-Serak Tur
Looking up at some other setups I might go further toward the dmg end hmm

Edited by: Soros on 22/05/2005 13:14:19 The best thing to do when in a blaster setup taranis, is to start mwd'ing away from your target, stupidly many people (but the very best interseptor pilots) will click approach on you, because they assume you are running away, when they are at about 20k from you click approach on them, with the help of nanofibers your ship with zip around and your ships crash into each other. If you time it well, you can toggle off your MWD (means you hit for 50-100 damage per shot) whilst they still have their mwd on (you hit hard) and they are webbed to the ground and about to be in a pod.

Only problem with the blaster taranis is a Crusader can EASILY outrun it and easily outgun it at range.
I've 1v1'd alot of Taranis pilots from Stain, FOE, FA, FIX, and old Curse.. I have to say if they run rails I won't tangle with them, but if they have blasters on I'll either kill them or scare them off unless they web me. But with the taranis' low speed it's almost impossible for a taranis to close the distance on a crusader.

I just buy and fitt my taranis...
But i was asking myself about the "standar fittÚ.
My fitt is:
3*Ions blaster TII 1*Small nos
MWD Scrambler Web
Power core Power diag TII Cap recharger
I'm using AM amo...
Well i'm pretty fast with mwd on. I test this fitt agains npc. When i orbit with mwd i'm really fast but i can touch the enemie (well i hit sometime, but i want to hit every time ;) ). If i orbit with out mwd i'll be easly shoot by the enemies missilles or gunnery isn't it?
So is this kind of fitt good for pvp and how to use it? What kind of sheep can i destroy?
power core/Mag' field stab TII/

This is probably one of the best setups you are ganna get for your taranis. Other than this you can go with feauxs for more damage. However with this setup i believe if you were being fired upon you would be able to last longer thus being able to dish out more damage thanks to the repairer.
