Hello, I was thinking about scannable pockets in space such as the one featured in the mission "Don't Look Back". The gravity well could be used to anchor POS's or other structures. It was just an idea and I was wondering if anyone had similar ideas.

On the 'anyone had similar idea' part, yes, it does get posted form time to time. I think that pos should be anchorable in deep space (within scan range ofcourse). That way there can be hidden bases that can't be found by flying form moon to moon.

It would be interesting to have structures in more places than just at moons or on planets. something like a gravity well could add a little more flexibility for structure placement. But, what would the structures anchored there do? Moon mining wouldn't be possible.

It could do alot of things, hide capitals, be a cyno point, deep space storage (corp hangar/mant array spam), battle station, hidden forward ops base, pirate outpost, carebear low sec outpost, long range gate camp (needs to be patched out if implemened), these are just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are many more uses currently being used and could be used once if they ever unchain pos from thier pet moons.

Um... Troublemaking I'd reckon.
I think it would be worth it to some people to give up money in return for a secret base.

Well there's this idea I had a long time ago. A spacecraft that is somewhat similar to the modern day submarines, but in this case it's a subspacecraft. On the inside of the ship is your standard array of sci-fi covert ops technology, however on the outside it is completely enveloped by a black hole. It was able to achieve this by swapping the shield emmiters with dozens of particle accelerator colliders. By colliding charged particles against eachother one can create miniature blackholes. However with 21st century technology it is very difficult to sustain and contain these singularities.
One could imagine that in 25000 years.. someone could be able to invent it.
So that's it. A ship that is enveloped by a black hole.
CPP run with it!

So, kind of like a gravity well generator of some sort?

Sure.. if what you mean by gravity well = black hole. That's really the only thing I can think of.

Manufacturing, BPO research and copying, everything a High-sec POS can do really, with the added bonus of being harder to find.
Whether or not that's a balanced thing for a POS is another story...

Well, there might be restrictions as to how many structures can be anchored to a gravity well. And the signature radius could be made about as subtle as a nuke... So it would make it easier to have a POS or other structure and keep it from being immediately accessible by large fleets or gangs. Maybe these deep space sturctures could be like the abandoned asteroid bases you find in missions and plexes all the time (except dockable)? It would add more realism if only for the fact that there are already several of them around. Just place a few that are not in plaxes that can be interacted with.
