The third sell order contained about 16k units of isogen. I bought it all as well. The order didn't disappear. I thought it was due to lag so I changed tabs, closed the market window and reopened.
The order remained. I bought it out again, and again and again, but it didn't disappear, and it didn't diminish at all. I verified I still got all the 15,726 units of isogen, in to under deliveries. Three times as I made the transaction. I even relogged to see if that had anything to do with it.
You could assume the sell order is instantaneously remade after I buy it out, but I checked that too, it has exactly the same expiry on it every time, few seconds less anyhow. 29D 19H 35M 14S at the time of writing.
So what it looks like to me is, the sell order cannot be emptied, and it is essentially generating isogen out of thin air, or the order is showing incorrect quantity.
Anyhow, I was wondering if this is a known and noted issue, glich, exploit or a bug of sorts? I've never met anything like this before.
This has been petitioned already under Rules & Policies -> Exploits.
EDIT: I bought 330K more units, and it all came from the same person selling the some 16k units, but the order was unaffected.

You didn't buy from that sell order, but from another order with a lower price.
You can't choose which order to buy from, the lowest order always sells first (though you can pay more than what was asked).

As a seller, I sometimes get a kick out of that. It always throws me for a second, though, as I try to figure out where I had something listed for *that* price. Heh.

I had the same thing happening to a small order of isotopes. It was the lowest order, but it did just not disappear. Im fairly certain it was the lowest, I did doublecheck that. Odd.

If an order has expired that day, it will remain until downtime.
Just another possibility for your "invisible" lowest order.

It's a known issue called user error.

I'm well aware of that mechanic, and I tried to imply that I bought out all the sell orders in order from cheapest upwards. Perhaps I left it a bit too unclear.
It was infact the lowest order, I triple checked.
But anyway, I got an answer to the petition and apparently it was a glich of sorts where the market would display incorrect figure in quantity. The GM verified that the person was actually selling several million units instead of that 16k, according to their database.

Well it could also be that there is a more senior sell order set at the exact same price... it happens all the time to me. The older order, in the case of a price tie, always gets fulfilled first.

I do that quite a lot. If I'm buying mats for 20 hulks it's hardly worth doing the maths when the total spread is less than .25 isk so just buy at the price which will fill the total requirement...

Yes it happens.
I have seen it at least 12 times. It only happens on minerals and a few items that are similar to them. It only ever happens in Jita.
Every time it occurred I was fully expecting it. I would called it a feature by CCP. If I was them I would have added something similar.
Petitioning is unlikely to help as a GM will quite rightly assume you don't understand the markets or will read the petition after a downtime which is to late.
Most Players in the 500+ billion range agree that they have came across the same annoying thing. It's a pain that in the end caused me change a few things I did so that I wouldn't have to deal with it.
