I am looking for a ship that doesn't look dangerous but is able to solo battlecruisers. I am often confronted with situations where a wartarget refuses to engage me if I am sitting in a battlecruiser myself. So I need something that doesnt look like it could kill a battlecruiser, but in reality does. I had some success attacking bigger targets before in a tanked Dramiel but it takes very long to kill a BC, in case of a Drake it is not able to break the shield recharge.
I thought about a Sacrilege, is it able to kill a Cane/Drake? Or maybe a Zealot? Does anybody have experience with those ships vs battlecruisers?
Another option is to take a Tier 1 BC, but you can only pull it off if your opponent has considerably worse skills than you or a crap fitting. Is there something else I didn't think about? Well first off, if your war targets will engage a HAC in a BC then this is easy mode. Either stay far away or very close (depending on what he *doesn't* want you to do) and eat him. You can also use Assault Ships depending on how crappy their fits are. To kill a Ferox or a Prophecy, you can throw an Ishkur at it no problem. If it's a well-fit, T2, dual-neut Hurricane... well you're pretty much screwed fighting it anything that doesn't outclass it.

Yeah thats the problem, you can kill a crap fitted BC in nearly every ship but I am looking especially for something that can stand against a well fitted and flown BC. So there is no ship that can pull it off then? Maybe something from the Recon class like Curse? I think you're talking about an assault frigate or one of the faction frigates. And in these situations you'll have to get lucky. If your target has nuets or can outrun you you'll have problems.
That said I almost lost my BC to a Daredevil on Sisi once. And have heard of Wolves taking down HACs. I've heard the Worm is pretty good too. If you can stay close enough you'll have a decent shot.
Give it a try and please post your results.

I have an alliance mate that has had great success using a Cyclone with shield boost drugs and cap boosters to tempt engagements. He typically wins 1v1 against anything BC-and-down. After alot of thought, and alot of lost duels another Alliance mate found a Hurricane fit that could kill him consistently as long as he got to pick the range...but if the Cyclone got to scram range the 'cane died.

Did the Cyclone have a faction shield booster and/or a crystal set?
Somehow doubt that one can pull it off without putting some serious money into it. But I guess it can't be helped if you want to fly such a ship, gonna look into it. Otherwise, my Dramiel should work against buffer fitted BC's :) Please ensure your signature is within the allowed size of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24,000 bytes. Navigator |

Problem is anything that can take a BC down they will run...
But for smaller hulls...
Arazu - kite and damp/point Falcon - ecm and point Dramial - pwnage Gallante Assault frigs?? Ishkur in a high speed orbit with good drone skills not a good tank. or an enyo which has issues with mid slots and tackeling...
If you are 1v1 vs BC's in a smaller ship you might want to look into active tanked AF's. The following is just a test not hugely optimized you can toy with it, pull the scram II for a named or warp disruptor.. although a scram would work better with this ship. Just an idea to start.... But 200 dps and pretty good speed. With no web though you will have issues vs other fast frigs. On the other hand fast frigs generally do not like attacking Ishkurs...
[Ishkur, Active fit] Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Small Armor Repairer II
1MN MicroWarpdrive I Warp Scrambler II Cap Recharger II
Light Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S Light Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S Light Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S Small 'Knave' I Energy Drain
Small Trimark Armor Pump I Small Trimark Armor Pump I
Warrior II x5 Hornet EC-300 x4

Normally Ishkur is a very good bet but dual neut nano-shield cane will kill it any day. Actually this ship would have to make some series of mistake to be killed by anything smaller than it. Only time I lost my nano-cane 1v1 against a smaller ship size was against Cynabal, which can fly faster & does DPS out of Cane's range even if the cane has 2 TE. But again, Cynabal is is not a ship that BCs will see and think 'easy target'. :p However, I lost a nano-shield tanked Rupture to two kiting Crows with TD before. They both stayed out of neut range and with TDs on it there wasn't much I could do & I had a feeling that I would've lost even if I was sitting in a cane back then. So similary, I think kiting Ishkur with rails & a TD could do it too if you go for turret based BCs.
Recon ships, especially Curse won't help you because any turret based targets will make a run as soon as they see it on scan and without a cloak it's hard to bring 'element of surprise'. If you have good skills maybe something like Cyclone or Ferox could draw targets to engage as they are generally underestimated.

Confirming the Cyclone is a very underrated ship. Came up against a buffer Cyclone a while back that was pretty tough to beat.
Also I hear the Moa is very underrated. Fitted with blasters it's supposed to be fearsome.

The Cyclone can be effective. The Ferox is a joke and so is the Moa. Neither one will work unless the target is in a complete failfit cane/drake.
