Been looking at some boosted extraction rates here and it doesn't look good for pi holders. Also doesn't look good for pi in general while there won't be shortage of fuel it will allow ppl to make it alone therefore no need to buy of market. knowledge is power |

Currently with the right mix of planets one character can make more than enough POS fuel by themselves.
Although anything to give my fingers a break will be welcomed.

Towers have already fallen by 50%. Is this really a good change? Maybe lower fuel consumption of POSs, but do we really need more PI mats flooding the market?

A. CCP is bluffing?
1. CCP increases extraction rates on Sisi causing observant speculative stock pilers to dump their PI materials on the market in anticipation of the possible loss of value.
2. Once a significant amount of stockpiled units are consumed CCP returns to the previous extraction rates on Sisi.
B. CCP's bluff is called and speculators hold on to their stock?
1. CCP increases extraction rates on TQ to the current rates now on Sisi. Stockpilers dump their Pi materials on the market because of the realized loss of value and apparent greater future loss.
2. Once a significant amount of stockpiled units are consumed CCP returns to current TQ extraction rates on TQ without warning.
If I were CCP and looking for a way to salvage the viability of PI long term I might employ such a tactic.
After all, in the current state of affairs many PI items will be money pits for some time, unless CCP figures out a way to deplete the stockpiles. Under this scenario the only people that might hold on to their stock and perhaps add to it are those who need it for towers and/or production.
/end dream sequence
Edit:
More tinfoil hat tom foolery:
CCP alts are used to buy the freshly dumped PI items which are summarily trashed taking them out of circulation! CCP saves PI!

It has been suggested that the only fix for broken PI (due to stockpiles) is to massively increase the amount produced per player, and simultaneously massively increase the amount used by the relevant users (towers, etc.).
Could this be one-half of the equation?

After checking and rechecking on Sisi I can confirm extraction rates of various raw materials (cannot confirm all though) have increased by up to 50%. This would seem to be the reason we can see downward trend on such item as coolant and robotics...people have caught on that soon this item will be worth much less so leave the speculator with his sausage in hand and coolant in hangar.

Some NPC corp alt said so, so it must true . Would you perhaps be so kind to share with our friendly market community which material extraction rates were increased? Because I am currently checking Sisi 0.0 PI values and they are exactly as they were before.
It seems Widemouth being true to his name has been spreading this news in every thread that is somehow revelant to PI

First off, my thanks to those who have the time and patience to conduct testing on SiSi. Your work is appreciated.
Now, I'll say right up front I've not yet checked this... I'm taking a break at work and some "in-depth" Eve research isn't possible ATM.... so I'm ONLY speculating. Comments and suggested avenues of investigation will all be most welcome.
Speculation: CCP might be tinkering with PI in advance or the release of DUST.
Having launched PI, might not CCP be tinkering with production rates to insure that PI is sustainable from the perspective of production capacity? As long as there is some reasonable basis to believe that players can produce P0 thru P2, and produce in significant quantities, any shorter-term market impacts are of secondary concern?
Might not a longer-term issue for CCP be the viability of the PI "system" in providing items for DUST? The colonies are likely to be the focus of the Dusties shoot-em-outs, but isn't PI also the source of some items to be used by Dusties?
If certain P3 & P4 items to be used/consumed by the Dusties are also required for items used/consumed in Eve, could CCP be working to insure that future PI production has the capacity to meet this increased demand? There is now a segment of the Eve population who are reasonably aware of how PI works, from P0 production to "The Market". That it might not be as lucrative as some would hope, meh, perhaps not a big concern to CCP.
As long as the production capacity is there, Eve players would react rather quickly to a new balance in supply and demand. The markets would adjust to increased demand, and those interested in PI might then either return to or expand upon their present efforts.
Comments, critiques... all most welcome.

Well they are going to have to consider that the supply of PI products is going to drop with the release of Dust. People's bases are going to be getting blown up all the time causiing the combined market supply to drop as bases have to be re-established and restarted. Also the cost of the rebuilding is going to show up in the market cost of the materials as well. Also consider that some of the current PI producers may well quit production as the hassle of rebuilding a planet every week may not be viewed as "worth it" and the supply side dries up even more. If they have seen that the current supply is not sufficient to keep the needed parts of the game fully functional, they wil have to take some form of corrective action otherwise see those necessary functions killed off as well.

I don't see why it is believed that action is needed on part of CCP to "fix" PI rates. The market is adjusting very rapidly to levels where PI is profitable. The only collateral damage is that t2 seems to be getting back up to the value we were all comfortable with pre-dominion. The OMGMASSIVE stockpiles from the initial mistake are all but gone.
The value of a POS and POS fuel are relative to the number of POS out there. If it is too expensive to run your space hanger then give it up. Those of us who use the thing to its fullest extent can expect profits to rise to match the new cost of operation.

Some of the current extraction rates are WAY too high, this is on Tranquility not SISI. Other PI is just too low. I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to "level" the extraction rates. Like Heavy Metal for example has a HUGE extraction rate, way too high. Noble Metals is just too low.
If this is what they are planning things like Electrolytes and Precious Metals are going to dive in price, but things like Water and Toxic metals are going to up.
I've been selling out my high priced stuff for a week since SISI had number changes but I'm holding my cheaper stuff. Gamble for sure but there is no reason why in high-sec I should be able to extract over 1,300 units of anything in a 15 minute cycle.
I would expect it more like this..
High-sec 700-900 Low-sec 1200-1500 0.0 1500+
To me that seems about right, in High-sec if all the stuff extracted at around 700 you could easily fuel a large POS with five planets.

I dont know if its a good idea to be messing too much with extraction rates this soon. PI stockpiles and cheap POS stuff from the reprocess failure still has a big effect on the market imo.
And for future speculation: I think the "rare" materials' extraction rates needs to stay low to promote conflict opportunities if Dust is to be heavily linked to PI. But as soon as Dust514 is mentioned it really is just speculation so...

They are taking it seriously because the panic selling clearly confirms the rumors are true! This will be followed by yet another round of coolant buyup followed by a yet higher equilibrium price. Simply put, supply is still falling short.
Coolant is set to be a really new style market for traders. When it spikes supply will spike as lots of PI players will switch over for quick ISK. Then the amount of work they have to do to earn that ISK catches up and they will switch away to something else. Thus manipulations will be successful if they are maintained, but utter failures if they are abandoned after a single round of buying. Threads like this will continue to hold more sway then historically seen on MD. Doubly so when there is so much uncertainty on how PI actually works (you cant expect traders to stop their 100m/day clickfest to participate in a 25m/day clickfest).
