I doubt that the Chinese Government would allow such an open chat channel where its citizens can talk to people all over the world without them being able to access the chat logs and have players information to identify who is who in game.
Way to show how ignorant you are..
I speak (skype) and email very regularly with a person I've met in China, despite living in the UK. This whole "China censors EVERYTHING!1!1!" thing gets really old.
Oh, you speak to one chinese person and you are an expert!!!!!
Much as I hate to quote from Wikipedea, but ----
The apparatus of the PRC's Internet repression is considered more extensive and more advanced than in any other country in the world. The regime not only blocks website content but also monitors the Internet access of individuals. Amnesty International notes that China ôhas the largest recorded number of imprisoned journalists and cyber-dissidents in the world.ö The offences of which they are accused include communicating with groups abroad, opposing the persecution of the Falun Gong, signing online petitions, and calling for reform and an end to corruption.

My father just got back from a month long visit to China, and had no trouble hooking up skype and MSN chats with me outside the country from any hotel he visited, so i'm really getting a kick out of this. As for restrictions on the Chinese citizens themselves, every country has political dissidents, in the west the government calls them "anti-government terrorists", which is a bit extreme, but that's how it goes here, and you better believe they're being monitored.
My deepest sympathies. Prof. Tarantula, Esq. |

If this comes to pass, it will be awesome. People say "oh, just 6000 players on that server!" but seriously... if they all joined the same alliance, the **** would go DOWN.
One universe, one server for everyone. Props CCP, hope you guys actually do this and it's not misreported.

Well, it's CCP, so I wouldn't be surprised if "we" will be the ones who will have to "start over"

I just posted the link - I make no assertion as to its truth. I only assert that it's "EVE related".
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

I just got a response from CCP. This isn't true, it was a misunderstanding of what Hilmar said during his talk.

They also have very expensive t2 on that server too. People mainly fly t1 ships with t1 fits even if they have really good skills.
If they came here it'd be a veritable heaven full of cheap t2.

1) guess this will happen after the notorious 18months, so hooray for more lag ^_^ 2) doubt CCP would announce something like that if they didn't have a clue about chine law/restrictions, but trust me if i say you they have waay more internet (and not only) restrictions than us (EU/US etc), close friend of mine has been living there for 8 years, and experienced couple of them 3) i'm positive that chinese players r more than eager to come and spank our asses 4) i personally see/imagine them like russian EVE comunity, just more aggresive and proactive (ingame)...so
in conclusion, that might be intresting indeed..but the lag.... |

As mentioned, there was a bit of an misunderstanding here, while it would be interesting to merge these servers if it was technologically and legally possible, it is not something we're currently planning on doing.
As for the discussions on politics we've seen here, there are other forums where they'd love to hear your opinions on those things, but this is a forum dedicated to EVE Online so please keep discussions on topic.
