Only several minutes ago, i was flying a skillbook worth a couple mill out into my alliances pocket in 0.0. My shuttle ended up trapped in a bubble and popped by a single pirate. I wasn't particularly angry, but i just had that shrug you get whenever you lose something. So i just sent him a message politely asking for my skillbook back. He gave it to me. Sure, maybe he was hoping i would come back to get it so he could pop me again, but what if he wasn't?
I want you to post strange experiences you've had in this game here, im eager to read them!

there was once i was with a friends corp who was gate camping a low sec gate (i was there in a frig collecting loot)... and after some period of boredom, i decided to fly through the belts...
some guy jumps in they start shooting i warp back to the gate and start screaming in local... "yarr, i'll save you!" my friends pop his ship and warp to a safe... leaving his pod and wreck behind...
i scoop his loots and after seeing it was all t1 garbage, i gave it back to him in the next system over which was high sec... he thanked me and then rewarded me with some isk for saving his pod.
even though i was almost laughing too hard to type... i managed to thank him, and warned him about low sec and then went on my way...
to this day, i still get random convos form this guy because i'm his hero or something for saving him that day.

It just proves that all PvP'rs are not @#$%^&*. While there are some that are only interested in carebear tears Others just want your ship to be toast, and can be rather helpful after that mission has been completed. People still get ransomed and let go on payment, it not as bad as the rumors say.

Noriega was CIA and a Head of State. Just saying, you never know who or what the CIA is involved in.
It's also illegal to know the identity of some CIA officials, this makes things even more interesting, because your wife might be one of those hot sexy uber CIA spy chicks. Oh wait, that can't be CIA, only Russians have women that are both sexy and intelligent (look at that uber hot Russian spy recently caught in America; Anna Chapman). I guarantee she got lots of infoz. FSB, CIA who knows.
This message will explode and cause a black hole at the LHC consuming the known universe.

Wasn't calling him outright crazy, because you never know these days. Just raised an eyebrow and stands out among the average things i hear in local.

I needed a codebreaker from an enemy hub a few systems away in NPC 0.0. I grabbed a MWD fit rifter, zoomed in, and bought the codebreaker. On my way back, I was popped by a red Sabre, but I was able to escape with my pod. (My rifter died after it had MWDed out of the bubble.)
The guy who popped me insisted on trading the codebreaker back to me at the nearest station. I graciously accepted and got it home safely.

I was just finishing an anomaly, and with last NPC ship standing I found out I ran out of ammo. The closest station was nearly 10 systems away. I didn't really want to leave the wreckfield there and job unfinished. So I made a run around all the dead Gurristas (pun intended!) and collected every bit of medium ammo I could find. I loaded each gun with a hundred of different ammo type and continued to pwn the little bastard. ___________ EVE is dying! Now for real! |

When I first started playing this game, I was told you cannot be nice to or trust anyone. However being nice to people & trusting has lead to me becoming the CEO of one of the oldest corps in game, being given a complete capital ship production line, a nyx, and most important imo, the respect and trust of some of the oldest, richest, most powerful players in game.
Another intresting experience, Back when WIDOT held geminate some time ago, our gang had sparked up a fight in one of their home station systems, Fighting went on for probably 45mins to an hour, Our gang finally ran out of ships as WIDOT was just reshipping in station. They were so appreciative for the GF, that they ordered their dictor off the out gate so we could leave with our pods. Was truely a classy move, and just goes to show that despite all the hate people spew at each other, all we really want is good fights :)

Back when I was an ore thief, and can adding was allowed, I used to put quafe in peoples empty jet cans and a bookmark that said "Hugs, -Ashley"
I used to have very odd and funny conversation with a macro miner, I think his character names name were sunfla and tableq.
I found a very strange bug that lets you use alliance mechanics to end wars, as far as I know that bug still exists, but don't try to use it. I got lectured good by the powers that be. :)
Random people used to follow me around a lot for no particular reason. They'd reject all convo attempts. That doesn't happen so much anymore now that nobody remembers me. Every time I join a corp though, the CEO gets a warning about me, so I know I'm still loved.
A guy once bought his own corpse from me for 5 mil.
Someone in EVE once got so mad at me that he got drunk and broke his toe and asked me if I was happy about that. I later found out that he had maybe 6 accounts, and blew up one of his own alts to try and trick me. Very strange what people will do.
One time a guy camped me in a station for 10 hours straight. I'd come back every hour or so and undock/redock to see if he was still awake, and he would shoot at me. I asked him if he ever got bored camping, and he said that no, he was an accountant or something and constantly shifted his eyes back and forth from his work PC to his game PC. That would give me seizures.
I've seen so many strange things, these are just a few examples.

This happened not too long ago.
Was flying an Oneiros in a FW gang on a gate when an enemy FW gang dropped on us and fighting commenced. I immediately began experiencing extreme rubber-banding and slideshow effect (was no more than 50 people on grid total). I started getting the "BEEP BEEP BEEP" warning of my shields going down and realized **** was getting real (my HUD showed me at 95% shields) so I started spamming the Jump button on the gate (re: "Pulling a faust"). The seconds ticked by and I heard the alarming sound of my Armour being destroyed followed quickly by my Hull and then the flash of my wallet and Inbox. Still I sat there.
About 10-20 seconds later things were returned to normal as I found myself in the system I was attempting to jump into, in my pod, in an emergency safespot 1,000,000km off the stargate.
CCP's logs, naturally, showed nothing awry.

Maybe not strictly within the EVE universe but I'm always surprised at how small the world is if you chat with someone in EVE and you realise they go to the same university as you, or someone you knew 10 years ago is playing EVE and that's how you start talking again.
Pirates giving back stuff happens, we just don't like to talk about it
Don't count on getting stuff back if we can resell it or use it ourselves though

I have this on my strange experience list: I had a lot of **** going on RL (people dieing and **** like that) and was playing Eve for some hard needed relaxation. I was buying some stuff from contracts in Jita.
All of my sudden I am out of ISK and I think "wtf I should still have at least 2B left". And then that OH **** feeling sets in. Indeed, I had been scammed out of nearly 2B, paying 2B for a 200M item. I was so fricking angry and typed an ugly mail to the scammer. Just as I was about to send it, for some reason I deleted the whole mail and changed it to a nicely mannered mail telling the scammer he got me good and that RL was a bunch of crap atm and asked him whether he would consider giving me my iskies back.
The next day I got a nice mail back from the scammer wishing me the best with RL and a notice that he had sent me back the ISK he scammed from me plus an extra bonus of 500M .
He also mentioned 27(!) other people fell for the same scam the day before.
Shows even scammers have a heart sometimes

My very first lost ship was due to me wanting to cut my route by a few jumps, and deciding to take my FIRST jump ever into Low sec.
My Catalyst found a Phobos on the other side who popped me without me knowing what to do.
That player convoed me, explained to me what I should have tried to do, wished me luck, and told me to put him into my address book with a horrible standing, for what the future may hold.
I was a bit puzzled, but his advice was not half bad and I still have them in my address book with a bad personal standing.

I was in SJTC - when I attempted to buy a 150 mill GISTI b-type MWD some 2 years ago. A bad pirate contracted it to me at 0 isk. I didn't take advantage on him and suggested that he remade the contract. He was not even aware that he had skipped the money part. Later he thanked me and confessed that he was drunk.

I had a similar thing happen to me when your lot jumped me on a gate in Hado. Beep beep, spam warp, flash, bang, but ship still there and eventually end up back in station. There were perhaps 29 in local....

Strangest thing I ever encountered, and I'm slowly starting to think I dreamt it because I've never seen or heard about something similar, was when I was 4-8 days old, didn't know what I was doing, flew a bit around in a shuttle had some of the old mission logs in my cargo, then suddenly I got this pop-up window with some sort of warning and a GET OUT NOW! THIS WILL BE YOUR ONLY WARNING!
So I turned asap and noticed this red flashing ship coming after me. He folowed me red flashing for I think 4-6 jumps before he retreated.
Whether or not it was a dream I was scared out of my pants.
