Edited by: Almost Ineluctable on 08/08/2010 10:09:19 For a Gallente Battleship pilot ?
Which skills to meet the bare minimum (it may take a while to finish missions)? Which additional skills to be a "decent" mission runner (more isk/hour)? Which additional skills to be a "good" mission runner?

What ship, megathron or dominix?
But for both cases you need good droneskills as a gallentean pilot. So it would be something like this Drones 5 Scout drone operations 5 Combat drone operations 5 Drone navigation 5 Drone targetting 5 Drone durability 4 or 5 Drone interfacing 4 or 5
If you aim towards the dominix Sentry drone operation 5 Heavy drone operation 5
Those skills will benefit the megathron aswell tho. And then you have gunnery support skills to at least level 4 on all, AWU4 is pretty much a must for gallente aswell since hybrids to take up a ton of cap.
Armor and/or shield tanking skills so you can use full t2 tank is a must aswell, reason i said and/or was because if you are interested in the dominix it can shieldtank aswell as armor tank effectively due to it's slot layout. But the mega will have a hard time as a shield tank, hence you want to armor tank it.

What do you think I should get first, Sentry Drone Interfacing I, or to be able to use Large Hybrid Turrets?
Getting Sentry Drone Interfacing to use the sentry drones would be about a day faster than working for Large Hybrid Turrets.

If going for the domi, sentry drone interfacing 5 without a doubt, if going for the mega. Large hybrid specs.

The Domi. There's no such thing as an AFK gunship. But your priorities change a bit.
If you can fit and fly this cap stable you're golden:
[Dominix, afk domi civi gun] Large Armor Repairer II Large Armor Repairer II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Drone Navigation Computer I Drone Navigation Computer I
Drone Link Augmentor I Drone Link Augmentor I Civilian Gatling Railgun, Civilian Railgun Charge [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Large Capacitor Control Circuit I Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Ogre II x5
Mind you, that's a little tight on cap, but the tank is awesome against Guristas. Swap around hardeners to make it work for you for each mission (one kin for a therm for Serpentis for example).
But that requires Gallente drone spec 4 and heavy drones 5. And if you don't have Drone Interfacing to 5 by that point your damage won't be that great.
But as a minimum for an afk tank? Get your armor skills up, cap skills up, and then make sure you can fly T1 heavies with DI 4. It can be done that way. But it might take a looooo.....ooong time on some missions.

Fyi, you can tank level 4s with a Myrmidon. You'll be able to do this faster skills-wise since you probably already have some medium skills.
Regardless, make sure you get your armor tanking certs. Many certs in the game are useless but armor tanking is a great guide.

For domi this is a set up I use occasionally:
[Dominix] Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Armor EM Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Imperial Navy Large Armor Repairer Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Omnidirectional Tracking Link I

Large Sentry Damage Augmentor I Large Capacitor Control Circuit I Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
Ogre II x5 Hobgoblin II x5 Garde II x5 Hammerhead II x5
Slap it in EFT , import to EVEMon and profit.
This a fit I used to run Sansha anomalies with a Megathron:

Not surprising the Domi beats the Mega by almost a 100DPS and a slightly sturdier tank.

In theory perhaps, but try and apply that drone dps in the same way a fully skilled railgun pilot will apply theirs.

Wanna know the funny part ? Those ogre II's form 1/2 of the damage that mega can put out.

Umm... right.
You know, I hate to say it. I trained up Gal first and always found rails more fun than blasters (although drones were always better).
A fully skilled blaster pilot is still the best one-foot blind knife fighter; for rails swap a foot for a thumb and a hand. The exceptions are few and far between; small rails can occasionally play a role and larges are good if you're in a fleet. Neither shines for PvE though.
The Domi on the other hand can truly rock face if you have the right skills. Plus it's one of the easiest BSs to start L4s with. Not to mention any non-'bear use it might have. And yes, it can apply dps better than any fully-skilled Mega can; just fit a few omnis and watch the bonused Garde IIs rip everything to shreds.

Capacitor related skills to IV. Large Lazer skills & Light/Med drone skills to IV. Above skills to V adding navigation and social skills to taste.
*optional* Cross train caldari bs, shield tanking, and spend a fortune on a faction-fit nightmare for the pinnacle of mission running power.

Edited by: Caldari citizen52145894561 on 11/08/2010 00:40:07 I would rather not fly with a billion isk ship with 2 billion isk of implants because there are a few *******s in almost every alliance/corp that would blow up your ship and kill you for the lulz and the fact they know you have 2 bil of implants in your head I've been killed by alliance members because I had modules they wanted before, I would rather stick with a "kill everything in the room without moving" sniper tach apoc Edit, what other skills would you recommend?

Leaving out the *optional* part, that's really all there is to it aside from amarr bs skill...
Use evemon and a little common sense.

Not all alliances are like the goons.

Yes, but with bigger ships (aka BS) you get more buffer then you remove low slots for dps rather than tank. I've done one lvl4 in a AF for the lols, but it takes ages.
And heck, the myrm can tank anything!! :D Stop whining. |

With only one t2 mag stab I don't doubt it. As for the domi, I started missioning with it myself, still like it, but don't you run into problems with sentries when the mission lands you in the middle of a blob? Maybe I'll have to fit one out and give it a go again.

True, though if you drop the rails the Myrm becomes a million times better. I was able to open a low and mid slot up just by swapping my rails out for cannons which I, of course, used for more DPS :)
The Myrm is truly an amazing ship; I just wish there was a t2 version.
