There used to be a day when I could play for about 20 - 30 hours / week, but that led to a divorce. -I gave my old account away to my cousin. Now I have a new account (I couldn't walk away completely, I tried) that has just been training for the last 20 months.

I'm just curious, how often do people play, does it impact your family, and how do you make it work? For me it seems like if I can't get a block of time of at least 4 hours, there is no point to logging in. There is always yardwork, housework, office work, or other commitments that don't allow time blocks that big.

Why would you pay to play a game a couple hours a month?

Solution: get her hooked and play together.

I'd rather be forever alone and free to do what I choose, than be tied down to some bovine who thinks she has the right to control someone else's life. Don't let your partner tell you what you can and can't do, if he/she ever starts doing this, it's time to leave them.

Same here. For me it's "Skill Queue Online" and "Shitpoasting Online".

Didn't cost me a marriage though. I really doubt a game could kill a marriage unless you are hard core gaming addict. I have seen marriages last for decades where they both veg in front if the TV every day, but of one wants to play a game instead, oh look out that's wrong.

Thank whatever divine beings you may believe in, I'm not the only one who thinks so. I'd rather be happy and forever alone than stuck in a relationship based mostly on manipulation and mind-control.

Not all relationships work on manipulation and if they do: who says it's women doing the controlling?

Also it's no a good idea to take a bad example and project it to the concept of relationships in general. It is entirely possible that you will be together with someone who wants to take over your life, while you are out, searching for your perfect partner. The trick is to acknowledge that this person is not for you and move on. A happy and balanced relationship is usually very rewarding, but if you don't try it you'll never know.

Of course relationships, at least in their early stages, tend to be time-consuming, mostly at the expense of gametime. But if the partner is right, you'll happily reduce your time spent in New Eden. Also it's not forever. Over the course of the first few months things will normalize and your corpmates will get used to seing your portrait again.

I bet you lied about the 3-4 hours. And about your soleness being a choice.
