Hello ladies and gentlemen of C&P,
My alliance seems to have a problem on it's hands, and that is our POS whose AI has apparently gone crazy. It shoots blues. It disobeys commands. It pees on the Persian rugs we imported to spruce the place up. As to why this pertains to C&P: It was clearly a crime to anchor it in the first place, and it is punishing us for it.
We have attempted a strong, firm hand to force it into line, we have attempted to pacify it with faction ECM modules (Caldari tower), we even offered it a sacrifice of a virgin alt. All to no avail, I am saddened to report.
The only thing we can think to do next is find a priest and some holy vodka, but we fear it'll just shoot the priest and drink the vodka and become even angrier. We don't know what else there is to do, please help us C&P. We've gone from Mostly Clueless to full-on clueless as far as this demonic POS is concerned.

Pacify it with a Warrior POS. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

This has been petitioned.
Quote: Our POS has killed more of us than our current war targets, is there any way we could attach a pod to it so we can fly it into battle? It is obviously a very very angry POS which does not enjoy a stationary life. I believe it would be happier with our pvpers in a roaming gang.

I believe if "Attack on aggression" is checked, then if anyone has agro, be it blue or not, the POS will shoot them if they are outside the shield... I may be wrong on this one, but I am 90% sure thats how it works.

Pretty much, but they can also flip out and start shooting people without aggression as well.. Absolutely awesome when your cyno pilot can sit on a POS just fine but the out of corp but in alliance jump freighter pilot starts to get shot at when he jumps in...

This. To the best of my knowledge we've set everything correctly. Only have attack if standing below whatever set, and we've set alliance and individual member corps to blue with our allies both ways. As far as I can tell, we haven't done anything incorrectly, and in a strictly logical sense this shouldn't be happening. We filed a 2nd srs bsns petition after the lolpetition, because losing an Impel with 200mil worth of fuel and other supplies is a lot worse than the stealth bombers and scanning frigs it's claimed so far...
Personally my theory is that this has to do with the new standings system (thanks for 'fixing' that btw. GG CCP), as we've never had any problems like this before Tyrannis. Also, don't blame me, I was high when I wrote this.

I'm reluctant to aid you in this venture as I sort of want to see you take it out roaming, but as we've had the same issue, here's what the GMs told us: The pos has absolutely no regard for standings set to an individual pilot, so npc corp ones are right out. If the blues are in player corporations and standings have been set to those, I remain baffled, yet optimistic for the prospect of a roaming pos.

Edited by: RifterDrifter on 10/08/2010 18:05:53 This sounds suspiciously like the dreaded and legendary Goonfleet-POS in QY6-RK that went Skynet sometime around 2008.
That bloodthirsty beast simply killed anything and anybody that came to its lair, despite having orders not to kill anyone with positive standings.
CCP apparently had no clue and the Pos got killed by BoB eventually. _______________________________________________

Yes, we have set standings to corps, not individual players. To add to the wtf in all this, the Impel pilot did input the correct password but landed outside the shield anyway. We know this because our possessed POS had no issues letting his pod through after it was done eating his ship.
I don't know, maybe we've used this particular tower on too many wormhole ops, and it's lashing out so we'll finally retire it. Also, don't blame me, I was high when I wrote this.

At one point the Allow Corporation/Alliance checkboxes were bugged and not staying checked. Might want to look at that if you haven't (probably have, but just in case...)
Still doesn't explain the shooting though.

Nope, those are set correctly, and I've personally verified with directors in all corps that corp <-> corp standings are set to blue for all members. CCP has replied to our serious petition and asked for more details, so they're still looking into the matter. Also, don't blame me, I was high when I wrote this.

I recommend:
1 Hel 1 capital roll of duct tape train up POS Rigging 4.
Strap the damn thing under the Hel( it's a minnie ship, so it's used to having 'parts added', and duct tape will help very well with this )
Then light a suicide Cyno near an enemy POS, jump in with the Hell and have your Pos duke it out with the enemy POS.
If you don't have anyone with POS Rigging, or can't find the POS Rigging skillbook, Maybe an offering of ISK will work? It's Caldari afterall...

Finally a bit of good news: CCP decided to reimburse the lost Impel + cargo. We also think we've finally got all standings set properly, and haven't had any friendly fire incidents since the Impel, though understandably nobody is taking any chances regardless... Care to elaborate on what the problem was (just a standing issue?), or if it was a GM that solved it?
Just curious.

Be carefull listening to this one, his own pos got RFed because he thought it be smart to take all the guns off it and then... leave it up ROFL... all while a red was in system, off scan, not docked rofl.

How does taking the guns off it make it go into RF? You still have to have ****ed someone off sufficiently to make them go and actually shoot at it for a while...
