I seem to spend all my time house keeping and trying to make a little ISK, that is making Eve tiresome and laborious. I liked Eve because there was no level grind but instead spend all my time grinding for ISK. Where has all the fun gone? Is it just a case of familiarity breeding contempt? I think I need to take a break.

Grind SMARTER, not harder. Or be even smarter still, and don't grind for ISK at all... instead, THINK how to make ISK off the backs of people that grind for ISK.

Yes...the grind is part of the game. It gets easier when you partner up with other players. You don't have to necessarily join their corp either.

This.
Instead of going on to do Level 4 missions, I got into worm hole and 0.0 exploration. Keeping a ship alive in these conditions takes a lot of skills.
So I tried a level 4 mission with the same exploration fit that I can do when I solo exploration and WH space..... good?
It took three hours to do Buzz Kill. I was apologizing to the looter/salvager I invited from the Free Wrecks channel for taking so damned long. Sure I did it in a battle cruiser (a Cyclone even). But three hours? Only mining could be worse and not by a greater margin.
If the grind is truly a grind, then something is wrong. It's good to have the ability to do a level 4 mission "on the shelf" for those days when there is no time to do anything more involved.

1) Fly cheaper ships ... it's a rare gang that can't benefit from a blackbird 15 million ish or an intercepter... 20 milion ish or a t2 fit bc 35 millionish? Or a intredictor maybe 30million tops ?
If you can't have fun with those might as well quit the game because you're missing something.
1a) if your corp's actions pretty much demand that you lose 200million isk ships once a week join another corp thats more sucessful/less beseiged in terms of losses or fly's cheaper ships ... if you can't have fun because of the demands your choice is the door out of the game or a door to a better situation in game.
2) Find some way that is fun to make isk. There are so many different ways , you have got to enjoy one of them... find some little niche in trading ...don't wory about the .01 thing.. just try selling some stuff you have lying around not used for 1 million isk more than its worth in a system that doesn't have any for sale and you'll discover that it works eventuallly... and you'll get a bit hooked and start figuring out some stuff that might even be worth buying to sell in those otu of the way places.

Halo Reach is coming out soon. I don't think you will be grinding anything in that game.

If you are a PVP/PVE pilot, you are kinda stuck with shooting stuff. If you take 3 hours for a L4, you need to skill up. I take about 1.5 hour for the big ones.
You cant mission in any ship. Well... you can, but you shouldnt. If you go to the mission report site you'll notice that most missions have a ship suggestion.
Get some skills in trading .. basic ones. Start station trading. This is buying stuff on buy orders in mission hubs, and either put it right there on the market for a markup, or transport it somewhere else. Not much skills needed, boatloads of ISK if you did your homework.
Start using LP's for extra ISK. Invest a bit in social skills for this to become more usefull (more LP/mission)
In the end, if you spend a lot of ISK, you'll need a lot of ISK. So either you'll have to find a way to create a steady stream of ISK, or stop spending so much.
There are a lot of other options to get you a lot of ISK, but they all need a time investment. I felt like you a while back. I can guarantee you are doing something wrong
Also, find some people in-game that have got this nailed, and talk to them. It wont save you from having to invest some time in it, but you should be able to get more ISK for the same amount of time. ========================== Nothing is true, everything is permitted. ========================== |

The best way to make ISK is buy GTC's and trade for ISK. To make the money for GTC's my kids do neighbour hood chores and I take a percentage of the earnings (95%).

Op,
You've hit the nail on the head. There is a 10 to 1 grind to fun ratio in this game.
If you're doing it alone, yes, there is no fun to be had in grinding. If you have a friend or friends, it does seem to be more fun.
But, CCP does need to have less grinding. It would be very cool if CCP made some sparring agents who matched up pilots who were wanting to spar without being forced to grind to afford any ships/items they lost doing it....something non-punitive just to take a break from the endless grind. They could be transported to an area where noone else is allowed so they could spar in peace.
