The station at J4-4 should be remade to exhibit its role in EVE. It is THE hub of hubs, so it should have a unique design to it as well as multiple entrances and exits. It should be the largest of all stations as well.
Feedback.

It should encompass the moon and be all flashy with lights like a disco ball to make its purpose clear to all.

I would like all large trade hubs to get a "special" station design. Would be cool. Makes the universe less copy/paste :p

Yulai is still a system ingame. Before the remapping of the different stargates years ago, all major traffic ran through Yulai, it was even a more natural market hub than Jita. You could get there easily from every region in empire. It is also the home system of Concord. ---------------------------------

CCP remapped the stargates as a part of one of the first expansions, citing "increased tensions" between empires, and rerouting most of the 'superhighways' people used to get around empire fast. You used to be able to go from Yulai to Lustrevik, and they closed that gate. Basically, Yulai connected Amarr and Minmatar space, and they shut it down. One of the cited reasons at the time was they wanted more regional market hubs, Yulai was too laggy with too many people. Which is rather ironic when you look at Jita now. ---------------------------------

I think that this is a good idea, and that part of this idea should be that all character sales should mandate that the character being sold and the character buying the other character should both have to be there .....maybe in a special type part of the station with the disco balls and Exotic Dancers...yeah, is this good....but you need to log in twice to make it all work

Question: What does increasing the number models (designed by artists) do to the required bandwidth on any grid location? Answer: fix lag before doing things that will increase lag potential.

Why would it do anything to bandwidth? A station is a station. Your client (your PC) renders the model. Eve already runs ridiculously fast on pretty much an capable computer. Network lag has nothing to do with polygons or textures.

I like the OP's idea a lot!
Jita is special - make it look special as well! Perhaps the smaller trade hubs like Amarr and Hek can get a nice visual update as well!?

Cynoing into 0.0 and dragging 2000 carebears along with it creates lots of lag.

Uniqueness costs money. Money which has to be recouped in the way of taxes and fees. Ergo, making Jita bigger/better/flashier/unique should increase transaction tax and broker fees.
OTOH, since Jita is "the" hub, the station owners should already be charging a premium (aka convenience tax.)
Too bad the NPC stations aren't player run.

The point is If you modify Jita, then the station is not just a station it is a unique station - ccp's ability to handle unique items without causing grid issues is poor.
