Edited by: Zverofaust on 16/08/2010 02:03:31 Runes of Magic is some ****ty Taiwanese MMORPG but I found it interesting that, plastered on their front page (www.runesofmagic.com) at the top of their news feed, is the following statement:
Quote: Thank you very much for all your excellent feedback. We greatly appreciate how much you care about Runes of Magic and the outpouring of concern over the past few days shows us what a truly great community we have here. Please know we don't take that for granted for a second. Please keep the great feedback coming. For now, we hope you all can go get back into the game and have some FUN! It is the weekend, afterall. Game on!
This is after their latest patch made a change to how mana functions in the game, which was followed by "yarr angry playerz". The developers have pledged to rollback these changes in response.
Along with that came a letter written by the developer's Vice President of Business Development explaining their initial decision to implement these changes and thanking the community for their feedback, stating that though they are convinced of the logic behind these changes, they've decided to rollback and re-evaluate them anyway because THEY RESPECT THEIR PLAYERS.
Runes of Magic may be some small-fry MMORPG, but they're showing an insane amount of respect and humility for their playerbase and IMHO CCP really ought to TAKE SOME NOTES.

EDIT: Whats is there to rollback? I for one am more concerned about the lack of fixes till Incarna and Dust are released rather than worrying about things that are for all intents and purposes set in stone. PRAISE THE SCOTTISH FOLD!!

That's what people would have said 5 years ago.
Besides, if they said sorry would that make anything any better? They've already said they're working on fixing some of the problems. |

They only do that because they have such a small playerbase that they need to keep every single one.
Besides, there's nothing to roll back. If they rolled back pre-dominion for lag fixes, lag would simply crop up from somewhere else. I also see no ingame features worthy of a rollback...

Does Runes of Magic have a test server where players are allowed to test features 3-4 months in advance of changes being made? I would assume not since the players would have had an opportunity to voice their concern well before the rollback was necessary.

I don't get your point. CCP themselves have changed the great carrier nerf (what was it, 2008?) and other major balance changes due to player feedback. I don't care what the trolls say, CCP listens to the players. They do not always follow the players wishes, but I'd like you to show me a game where the company does everything the players demand. Pr0-tip: there isn't one.
CCP certainly isn't very popular right with good reason now but they are far, far from being one of the worst video companies out there. - It's not "Play through a pre-set story, become stronger, do endgame". Gameplay is open ended, and you make your own story. Unless you're too afraid of 'pvp grief' to do anything relevant |

Say what you want about CCP but in my opinion they've created one of the most ground breaking games in history.

One thing I like about CCP is they're not held hostage by the vocal morons on the forums. If they look at the data and see something's out of whack, they'll nerfbat it. Otherwise they ignore whiners on the forums and tell 'em to HTFU.
Case in point your Runes of Magic, and pretty much most nerfs made by Blizzard.
