Hello pilots, i need to increase some standing with a faction, so i'd run level 3 missions in low sec (no agents in high sec :| ) That's why i thought to go there in a small ship, like an Assault Frigate, but i have no experience with caldari ones. Maybe a Harpy would be a better choice, but i have no gunnery skills.
This is what i thought so far, comments are welcome.
4x Arbalest Rocket Launcher 1x ???
1x Afterburner II 1x Small Shield Booster II 1x Photon Scattering Field II 1x Shield Boost Amplifier II
1x Ballistic Control System II 1x Capacitor Power Relay II
Thank you.

Personally I prefer Caldari Navy Hookbill over Hawk and it will def. Take care of level 3s (gotta love 20% dmg bonus / level!)

Uh interesting, thank you for the tip. I'll try some fits on eft, if you have one working it will be very appreciated.

You may also want to go with a semi-pvp build at least too...it's just a matter of time before someone finds you or catches you at the gate. And Which corp are you flying for? Sounds odd that there are NO lvl 3 agents in high-sec for them....

In a frig? Few camps can catch them, especially unplated ones... And if the camp look very bad they should not have much issue getting back to gate on an overloaded AB. Undocks are actually more dangerous if you don't have an insta, you risk being alphaed, mission frigs usually being pretty low on EHP.

Ick....I stand corrected. They don't even have much in the way of agents, period. Good luck, mate.

I would suggest getting some Minmatar gunnery skills and using a fit similar to this:
[Hawk, Prototype Hawk Neliel-Soifon-1] Damage Control II Power Diagnostic System II
1MN Afterburner II Gistii B-Type Small Shield Booster Medium Shield Extender II Stasis Webifier II
150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S Rocket Launcher II, Caldari Navy Thorn Rocket Rocket Launcher II, Caldari Navy Thorn Rocket Rocket Launcher II, Caldari Navy Thorn Rocket
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
With my skills this fit is cap-stable with everything running, it reps more than the fit you posted and it does nearly double the DPS. The B-Type booster makes it expensive, but it's oh so worth it in the long run. And yes, you should use the faction ammo -- you need the extra DPS. ---------- My typical ship fit:
Highs: teeth Mediums: claws Lows: nads
I am an outlaw. |

I haven't flown one in a while (after loosing two hookbills worth over half a bil isk - check battleclinic if you want to laugh at me ) but just messing around in eft this might work:
[Caldari Navy Hookbill, Setup 1] Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System
Small Shield Extender II Small Shield Extender II Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II Heat Dissipation Amplifier II 1MN Afterburner II
'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Thorn Rocket 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Thorn Rocket 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Thorn Rocket
Small Hydraulic Bay Thrusters I Small Hydraulic Bay Thrusters I Small Core Defence Field Extender I
With this setup (3% implants, all lvl 5) you can shoot from 20km, 150dps travaling 1219ms and a low signature radius of 46.2. Don't worry you wont get caught at gatecamp unless you autopilot...

Edited by: Jason1138 on 16/08/2010 20:43:18 if you're going to try to run level 3's in a rocket launcher hookbill you're are totally crazy
stick with your original idea and use a hawk. fit it to perma run an AB and a shield booster, not that hard to fit at all. if you're low skills use PDS's in the lows to make it fit
then perma run the booster while you speed tank the 3's. it will work great. a hookbill with standard launchers might work but will never have the EHP and won't have a dps advantage either. the hookbill is faster but that's about it
i fly both, and if you're pveing you need the hawk. if you just feel like you have to use the hookbill, put standard launchers on it, not rockets. rockets for pve are such a bad idea i don't even have a handy descriptor for it
if you were just gonna pvp, the hookbill is pretty close to an inty and not a bad choice at all

You are going to have a blast running level 3 missions with your 90 DPS assault-frigate.
Save yourself a lot of time and just use a Drake with T1/Cheap Meta modules. You'll get MUCH better performance out of it and after insurance it costs less to lose than the Hawk/Hookbill.

Ouch, rocket launchers where a mistake, sorry. I tried a hawk fitted exactly like you said, with perma AB and Shield Booster and it's very nice, no problem so far :) Maybe i'll try the hookbill too, just for fun, these little ships are very funny to fly, i'm enjoying the hawk already.

Not sure if it would be an improvement or not, but what about a Worm? If you can fly the Hawk, you only need Gallante frigate to 3, maybe 4. I'm betting you have drone skills. Still, I could be wrong about how good the ship is. I just figured a flight of light drones may help.

OMG... The Blockade is nasty =( I'm not able to complete it, a standing loss would be a tragedy D: I'll check the worm out, else a Drake is the way to go i think (but the system i'm in is almost always camped :S )

It's easy to lose Drakes to gate camps due to their low speed. If you have a super tank fit (ie: something that can handle level 4's with ease, and an AB on it), you might be able to slowboat to the gate before getting blown up. I've done it, but it's about 50/50. It's generally not worth the risk. I'm a long term Drake pilot so I should know. Have you thought about possibly speed tanking the missions in a heavy assault cruiser?
