Hello,I'm new to Eve and was wondering if it is possible to have items, like ships for instance, who are far from where I am at the moment to be transported to my current location? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

If you do not have rigs fit you can repackage the ships and create a courier contract with the collateral set at the price of the ships + 25% or so. I would check the current courier contracts in your region to see what the payment average is per jump.
If you have rigs fit then you either have to fly them or destroy the rigs to repackage them and do what was said above.

not sure if I'm wrong but I don't think you need to repackage to contract them. As conracting them will put them into a contract container for transport.

ships do NOT need to be repackaged to be placed in a courier contract.
Frieghters can haul everything up to a fitted battleship with ease.

I understand now that I have to make the contract but how much do I have to pay for it so that it will be picked up by someone? thank you

Unless you are really fond of a specific ship dont forget the option of just selling them where they are now and buying new ships at your new home. It can sometimes be the easiest option.

A courier contract is just a way for you to pay someone else to move stuff for you. Nobody will accept a contract that isn't worth the effort.
Red Frog Freight is probably the single largest courier service in EVE. They currently charge 500,000 ISK + 350,000 per jump. This is often more than new players can afford, but is quite a reasonable fee.
Starting out, you are most likely better-off repackaging frigates and moving them in an Industrial, and piloting cruisers and larger one-by-one to the destination.

Unless I'm very much mistaken freighters can't transport rigged ships - the only ships capable of carrying rigged ships in highsec are in fact Orcas.

Freighters can transport rigged ships if they are in a courier contract.
I do it all the time.

Wow really? I guess they can even do it if they're your own ships?
I'm going to get one then!

I really wish you would just stick to posting in whine threads where your disinformation can be easily ignored.

There's a bit of wrong info in this thread.
Listen to Tau - that's all correct info. (not saying there isn't other corect info, but that's the best of it in Tau's posts).
What I'd recommend though is to learn to use buy and sell orders. You can usually pick up ships for about 10 to 20% less than market in most places by using a buy order (often you can do much better than that). Then if you sell them at market you're ahead. Ships don't wear out or depreciate, so selling them at a profit is easy if you know how.
Just remember buying and selling using the 'advanced' button does take a little more time, so you need to plan ahead.

One problem I've run into with couriering ships that have not been repackaged is insurance.
I've been ferrying my mining fleet around in an Obelisk. The two Covetors need to be re-insured after each move. The Iteron V belongs to the freighter pilot, so he trades it to a miner who does the courier contract. Most of the time it doesn't need to be re-insured. ???
