Funny.. I'm not yet sick of playing tractor beam yo-yo with failflippers for 45 minutes. It sort of adds a mini-game to mining ops. When they inevitably do manage to flip a can, it adds even more amusement to see how long they will hang around until they decide to rage-shoot said can and move on.
No.. the system is fine. I mean.. if you really want to fight Hulks, I suppose you could do so by driving one with some combat drones and a combat-minded fit.... now THAT would be an interesting can flipper.

Edited by: Joe McAlt on 25/08/2010 03:46:06 Well after reading all these high minded pirates give good, sound ethical reasons why they should not be given a way to increase the chances that they will get more money one thing rings clear through all the of the smoke being blown up our backsides. Most pirates dont want to keep their word. Hardly surprising considering their chosen trade. As for me, it will be a very cold day in h*** before I pay a ransome now

Personally I never ransom for a few reasons:
1. Since I can't go into high sec and grab mods, I tend to fit my ships with the mods of my fallen enemy. I have a hauling alt but hauling is a pain.
2. In my mind, when someone pays a 100 mil ransom they have something juicy on their ship so I'd rather have the juicy stuff then some money. One guy desperately asked me for a ransom once but I popped him anyway and he dropped 900 mil in faction mods.
3. Pods taste good.

You should have just dishonored and got 900mil in faction + 100mil of his isk as well.

Originally by: General Sadistis the reason i quit pirating is every time i would ransom people would say **** you your just going to pop me anyways so do it... while i loved popping people this general mindset twards pirates need to have something done about it or pirates will be a dieing breed... if u just wanna kill people kill them...
Putting in a game mechanic to safeguard the pirate class is one of the most backwards carebear ideas I've heard. Obviously pirates have turned into just bullies and liars, and that's why less people pay out. Pirates as a whole have ruined the system themselves, they need to figure a way to fix it themselves. Not cry to CCP to fix it for them.

THIS! THIS NOW!
preeze implement so i can ransom my alt and cut down my sec status crunching.

Easily circumvented and abused.
Carebear dualboxes an alt to fly alongside him cloaked. If attacked and scrambled, he simply decloaks his alt, scrams his main and issues the ransom window. Main accepts, all attackers' scrams are broken, main escapes.

A system that forces you to honor ransoms would be stupidly unsandboxy. Oh my god I made a video |
