I am currently flying the passivecane without tech 2 guns is it possble to solo lvl 4s?

vs angels you should be able to do every mission NP with no faction mods at all. Its hella nice on WC.
With a faction/complex fit you should be able to do any l4.
When you say "fanboi" try to picture a fat man doing burlesque with 2 big ass fans that say CCP on one and HTFU on the other. Because that dude is me. |

i run missions for spacelane do you think there will be issues with getting into range?

it can be done, but really you should just wait. its kinda a pain.
i did it for a while until i was able to fly maelstrom better. But now i just run tanking mael with t1 guns and an alt account that is full cane dps. he runs target painting and t2 guns that kinda thing. makes the missions go so so much easier.

Sorry for noob question, but what's a "passivecane"? Is it a Hurricane with passive shield hardeners/amplifiers?

It's a passive shield tanked hurricane - ie maximizing natural shield regen - which doesn't necessarily involve passive hardeners too.
You can certainly do L4s in it, but I really wouldn't unless you're absolutely terribly skilled for BS. If you're skilled enough to do L4s in a BC you're certainly not far off using a BS well enough. And no, it's not fun. Using AF+SB combo is fun, using excessive tank and no spank is just a lesson in endurance.

I was asking since I've used an active armor tanked Hurricane sometimes for L4 missions. It worked well - except against Mercenaries who caused some trouble and forced to warp out occasionally.
Why would I want to tank the Hurricane shields passively? Why not an active shield tank which provides better resists? The Hurricane has a huge capacitor (compared for instance with a Drake) and good cap recharge rate. When I used the active armor tank in the Cane the last thing I had trouble with was the capacitor.
