So, I'm flying around in a myrm I really have no business in with 1.4 mil sp, but I'm nuts so, I'm out solo in low sec. warp 20km from a belt and land right on top of another solo myrm. I engage; I want the fight. back and forth we go, drones for drones, guns for guns, no interruptions, no blob, hot ship on ship action. this goes on nearly 10 mins. he uses an ecm burst to keep breaking my lock; I hadn't thought of that, will try it out. his drones were T1, so were mine. both of us were AC fitted, I had 220's he was 425's; it was really pretty even. anyways, the km tells the tale:

Congrats on finding the fun of soloing and the fact that the fight is sometimes more fun than getting the KM. Once you do it enough, you will never want to share your KM's with anyone else..

thanks all. It was just blind luck to land on this guy, and, although I'll not name him on the forums, I tip my hat to him. Now, solo pvp is all I want to do. nothing else satisfies, win or lose, as much as that. It got me thinking(and here I go hijacking my own thread a bit) what can be changed with the game mechanics to allow for more of this? gatecamp kills seems so small in comparison with going toe-to-toe. any good ideas, please post 'em and lets get more hot ship on ship action happening in this mother****er!!!

Well solo PVP doesn't always mean 1 vs 1. Typically it means you are solo and fighting 2 to 3 other ships if you are lucky and more if you are un-lucky.
I have another toon that is pretty much maxed skills for a Myrm and I can tell you the ship is capable of taking on small gangs however you really need BC V along with maxed cap & tanking skills to make it shine.
IMO, if you don't have maxed tanking/Cap skills you are better off to go with a buffer/gank fit rather than trying to use a standard dual or triple rep fit. Meaning Fit a 1600 plate 2 EANM, DCU & 2 Gyros if you use AC's. You also might look at some of the shield gank fits as a option.
It's not quite capable of taking on the stuff a dual or triple rep fit can take on, but it's more skill forgiving. (In all honestly I'd just fly a Vexor till you were skilled up well, but that my other Favorite ship)
As far as getting more 1 vs 1's.. Well GL with that. It's somewhat rare that 1v1's don't turn into you vs a gang. The Myrm once skilled well is quite capable of duking it out with small gangs but it lacks any real GTFO ability because it's fairly slow.
Unfortunately the best way to find fights that you want and to avoid getting ganked as much as possible, is to run a second account with a scout alt. People looking for solo fights are somewhat rare. People that are looking for a crappy KM along with their 20 other buddies are very, very common.

congrat on getting lucky enough to get a good 1v1 with someone with comparable skills. here are a few tips for finding similar fights, but understand that it pretty rare and you mostly will need to fight outnumbered (which the myrm is pretty good at actually).
1. offer duels in busy systems in highsec and swap cans. occasional you get bad apple dishonoring the fight with a falcon or remote repper alt, but often it does work fine. Expect people to think you are going to do this to them as well. linking killboard, and also checking up whoever you are fighting so it doesnt seem like he does dishonorable things is good also (you find most mails are posted on eve-kill.net or battleclinic).
2. fight in faction warfare systems around plex gates and such. they have ship size restrictions so if you only want to face other t1 frigates and destroyers you can hang out in those areas etc. there is also a fair amount of people doing the same here
3. most of the time you need to fight outnumbered or in an unfair situation however. Its important to learn how to split enemies up in manageable chunks. Have half of them take aggro on a gate, jump through and fight the other half while they wait for timer, split up fast from slow ships by usign range and burning around etc
I think one of the best things you hve goign for you is young character age. most people will engage a young BC pilot where they would run from a 2008 char etc

Congrats on finding a sweet 1 v 1, and in a bc at that. With alot of my corp on summer break I've taken to soloing full time, here's some stuff that might help. -Name your ship " T1 1 v 1 " , it pays to advertise. - frig skills are pre-req's to most everything and those will be your most common solo 1 v 1's so train those up - imo the secret to stress free pvp is to have a fast, ideally fun way of keeping your isk tank up. exploration is nice isk and if you do it in low sec you get the bonus of scouting your hunting grounds on a regular basis - look for a good corp that's pvp oriented. practicing with more experienced players can be invaluable and help you advance alot faster. have fun

Agreeing with this. I get much better fights on my alt and it is much younger.

You will die a lot engaging on small groups as a solo pilot, but you will get some awesome killmails and experiences on the off chance that you kill them all.. take chances, forget loss mails and accept that you will lose ships regularly.

Oh my god yes, they were. See, THIS is why EVE>any other game. I've never had any game make me feel like that. ever. thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I've made a pirate alt and already have him in a really nice pirate corp that is currently rebuilding, so, I plan on making this kind of thing happen on the regular. I'm hooked. any inner carebear I had is DEAD. (not dissing carebears, though, just sayin').
Catch ya'll in lowsec. I'll be the one taking yo stuff. Peace

If you find someone with t2 neutrons, you have already won -- he'll have no tank AND no ACs
Also, op: grats, and props for taking an unscouted myrm through lowsec. If you run out of isk and/or myrms, give frigs a try: easy to choose fights, and the little buggers are a lot more deadly than a great many people think
