Edited by: Jeremiah Tameri on 22/08/2010 03:06:44 I've been running eve with max settings + 4x Super Sampling anti-aliasing on at 1920x1080 res and I used to be getting around 95fps average, now it's around 70fps average and in stations there's sometimes severe drops to 30fps or lower when looking in certain directions.
Using a Radeon HD5870 with 10.7 Drivers.

I would LOVE to have 30fps
Edit: BOLD Edit: Oh, and yes my performance has dropped

How do you get 70 or 90? Mine caps at 60, always... Anyways, no, I haven't.

No, I haven't seen a change.

Set your interval on immediate, and deactivate enforcement of v-sync in your gfx driver.
I'm playing v-sync on, and with 3 account I have 60fps before the patch. It's the same after the patch. So no visible drop for me here.

I do get occasional lag when trying to activate modules, open windows, jump etc; Eve freezes for a few seconds, then does what its told. I hear many people say the same thing, have more disconnections too.

I see a gigantic jump in fps if I set the EVE process to high priority.
Give it a try. __________________ Follow me on Twitter Please add the ability to autolink planets in support of PI.

setting priority to high def. works. Another good Tool ist MSI/Afterburner. THIS really boosts fps.
Without eve puts out 12-17fps. With Afterburner on it goes up to 80fps.

I noticed a similar thing in my new PC. I have interval default in the client settings so most of the time my fps is capped at 60. Sometimes when entering or leaving warp my frame rate drops at 30 (surprisingly flat so there is an artificial limit there). |

Interval default = v-sync enabled, so your limited by your screen refresh rate (60hz). And since Eve has no triple buffering option, when you can't have 60fps, it's half of 60fps, so 30... That's the way i understand it anyway.
Try interval immediate if you don't want to have vsync limitation. ---------------------------------- - I'm french, sorry if you don't understand me - |

You have interval set to 1 or default. It's capped because of the refresh rate of your graphics settings.
No, I haven't had a performance decrease.
70-90 FPS here. 50-70 with 3 clients running, 10-20 in fleet engagements.

I am getting exactly the same problems
Any chance CCP could let us know they are aware that there is a situation and is at least looking into it??

Anyone who listens to this guy has no idea what Vsync does, or how it can affect your FPS when it can't meet the demand of 60 fps. ---

Since the last patch I get lag on odd occassions.
PI lags on the submit for 5-10 seconds, moving cargo in a station takes 5-10 secs, asteroids are sometimes in "faded" text rather than white for at least 5-10 seconds,, sometimes I have to warp away and back before they actually become white text in the overview. If I mine an asteroid most times it goes "faded" in the overview for seconds before disappearing.
This last patch has been rubbish.
I'm running AMD Phenoim II 965 with 8 Gig and 2 x ATI 5770 cards,, with reduced graphics because of the lag.

Since the patch my performance is the same 60 FPS min to 60 FPS max.
But I use one of those newfangled LCD screens while it seems that most of the people in this thread are still running CRTs. At least it seems that way since they are bragging about high frame rates. No one who knows anything is going to run a frame rate higher than their refresh rate.
My next monitor will be will be a 120 Hz so my frame rate will be 120. No more. No less.
All you running with the CRTs still can run whatever FPS you like without degrading performance. And it seems that plenty of you are.

Just wanted to clear some things up, vsync is completely off ingame and out and i'm using a 24" LCD display, I'm also fully aware that when vsync is on, it caps your FPS at 30 if the pc is unable to maintain what you set your refresh rate to, it also makes ui movement sluggish in eve, turning vsync (interval) off (immediate) makes moving windows/spinning ships much more snappy.
I think ATI's crap drivers are the cause of the drop as I updated them around the same time eve was patched.

I want to warn you that this will kill your GPU. Starcraft 2 had the same problem, they didn't limit the FPS on their beginscreen which killed some GPU's. Check http://www.zdnet.com/blog/computers/is-starcraft-ii-bad-for-your-graphics-card/3454 if you don't believe me.
