So ive been practicing with my stealth bomber(on other people). Ive tried calculating how much damage a bomb actually does. Take the shrapnel bomb, supposed to do 6400 damage. Ive tried taking that and reducing it by the resist percentages of the recieving ship, minus shield/armor HP, a T1 frigate in this case. And the actual damage done to the ship is never near what my figures show. Is there another way to figure out an idea of what kind of damage it will do, assuming the ship has no shield/armor hardeners.

Bombs also have an Explosion Radius attribute, which gives a damage reduction if the target's sig radius is smaller than the explosion radius, based on some voodoo equations.

Damage will also be reduced if the target is moving.
The best thing to hope for is that they are stupid enough to turn on their MWD. Then they will usually take almost 100% damage due to the massive signature increase.

Wrong.
Bombs only do full damage to stuff with a signature radius of 400m¦ or bigger.
200m¦ sig means half the damage and so on.

Cimilkar: Use a target painter, bomb damage is only affected by sig radius and resists. A good rule of thumb is that the bomb does (targetRadius/bombRadius) of the full damage.

Wild guess, something like this:
Damage = 6400 * (1 + Covert Ops Skill * 0.05) * (1 - Resist) * MIN(Signature / 400, 1)
Completely off-the-top-of-my-head and untested.
